I am 18 years old and about 6 months ago I had unprotected sex to a girl I hardly even knew and ever since i have been having wierd pains EVERYWHERE. After the first couple days i had pains in my groin both sides and after a week i got really sick with a bad sore throat. As the days pushed on the pain went up to my abdominal region and just randomly burned every once in a while in many different spots. Now the pain is in my lower part of the chest just below the ribs and all of a sudden i have been having pains in my neck and back. Not too far after that started, i have now also been having shooting, tingling, burning sensations in my arms, hands, and legs. It also seems like my arms, hands, and legs fall asleep really easily. I am in COMPLETE misery from worrying what this could be. Can someone tell me if this sounds like I could have HIV or an STD????

Hey man did you find out what was bothering you? Your post really describes what I have been going through for almost a year now. Apparently it is not an STI but I feel like I'm going to die sometimes. Maybe it's not an STI but it sure could be some form of bacteria, parasite, fungus, or even worse a virus. Anyone have any advice for us please?

Has anyone here been tested for fibromyalgia? That is definitely an option and I think that it would be a good idea to look into that if you could. Let me know!

I actually have fibromyalgia. There is no true test for this disease as well as no cure and very little treatment. Fibromyalgia is similar to a bad flu. You just feel crappy. Its unexplainable. Joint pain, head ache, sore throat, skin sensitive to the touch and the biggest symptom of fibro is widespread muscle pain. If you go to a general doctor and explain your symptoms they maybe able to help you find a physician that can diagnose you if they cannot help!

I also have a rare kidney disease and lupus which is similar to fibromyalgia. I have many medical diagnosises that I was given that turned out to be way off. I went to doctor after doctor just for them to either tell me I was to young and pretty to have anything wrong or it was in my head and I was looking for drugs! My point is, if you know how much pain you are in do not take any c**p from doctors and let them turn you away. If you are in pain then they should help. Just go to another doctor for a 2nd opinion. Don''t be ashamed, get help because you could be causing even more problems!

My other question for you and what is going on is...are you having trouble urinating and with pain? Kidney problems can cause symptoms similar to what you are having. I was having very similar pains and that was the last thing I thought of because the pain was all the way in my neck. If you would have an infection and have had it a while it is in your bloodstream causing your whole body to react and try and fight against it. If the person you slept with had a yeast infection, she may not have known, she could have given it to you. Yeast infections can do crazy things to someones body!

I suggest looking up some of these things I talked about and read over the information to see if it sounds like what you are experiencing. There is also a place on WebMD (i think) that is called Symptom Checker. I refer to this always. It gives great info and will give you a list of conditions it possibly can be! Good luck. I hope something I have said will help. I've been through hell and back with no answers for years so don't feel alone.

I'm going through the same thing practically. When I told the doctor my stomach burned he thought I had acid reflux and I am like no it is like it is in the muscle or something, it is my head neck and back and abdomen and the back of my calves. I haven't done any strenuous activities, so far they ruled out meningitis and I am being sent to a neurologist to do a MS work up, rule out neuropathy, etc but I had cancer 3 years ago and one doctor said this could be delayed side effects/damage from the chemo, and I came down with valley fever in April so it could be anything at this point for me. I wonder, when you press on the part that is painful does it hurt worse or feel better? whatever is wrong with me seems to be better with compression. Hope you all find out whats the matter.

Okay, I read all the posts and this was a result of spending the whole day practically googleing and typing in questions such as (1) heart attack symptoms in women; (2) painful lymph nodes in the groin; (3) swollen left ankle;  (4) frequent urination) etc. After awhile I was like, let me type in something like "why do I hurt everywhere" and this is the site that popped up with all your questions and response questions, etc.  All that you have described and more are my symptoms which I will list for you shortly after I give you a brief history.  First and foremost, everybody is different and everybody has a sidebar to the similar list of symptoms; for instance one person is a cancer surviver; another takes heart meds and another has issues with the kidneys.  Remember that because we are all different but experience some degree of similar symptoms, there won't be any one answer to our questions.  I have been seeing an internal medicine doctor as my primary physician for about 10 years - the one I call when the cold that last more than 3 weeks is most likely a sinus infection - or, after my dad passed I started getting all anxious and having several heart-attack like symptoms, took a trip to the ER and was told I had a panic attack and was prescribed Xanax - so when I get those symptoms (usually at very stressful times), I call this doctor.  This doctor is marvelous because she and her associate take the real TIME with me to talk about ALL my symptoms and try to sort through everything - recommending specialists if need be, etc.  I'm in my mid-40s and over the past 10 years with this physician I've seen some major changes in me.  I've realized I'm getting older, and although my mind is sharp, my body is just not the same.  I've been treated for anxiety and depression (until I finally got weened off all that stuff), and during those treatments, I experienced so many things in my body.  I have chronic back and neck pain, shoulder pain (no injuries reported), joint pain in the elbows and strangely in the arms (diagnosed with bursitis at one point - tennis elbow), I have severe groin pain, severe muscle aches, swollen left ankle,  pains that move all over the trunk region and sometimes right in the sciatic nerve - making it difficult to stand from a sitting or lying position, and diffcult to find a comfortable position to sleep.  I wake frequently at night to urinate (have been doing that since a child), and I urinate at least every hour during the day - unless I totally refuse to drink water - then it's ever 2-3 hours or more and very little and kinda painful. I get these chest twinges that feel like pokes in my heart, about 6 months ago my BP was elevated to 130+/100+ and it would not go down for anything so I was placed in a BP med - now it's pretty normal but the other day it dipped to very low after taking an antibiotic nearly 24 hours before for a vaginal infection - this was diagnosed as the only thing wrong in a string of tests for ever STD known to man - I have had blood tests for diabetes - all negative, I sometimes experience shortness of breath, numbness and tingling in fingertips (which I am experiencing at this moment while I type), I frequently feel dizzy and lighheaded, and I have trouble sleeping at night. I fall immediately to sleep and am wide awake in less than an hour, and so I don't get a regular night of sleep.  The doctor I mentioned will be seeing me thsi week and I plan to rehash all of this and provide all my new symptoms and see what she says.  Personally, I cannot lie.  I have a fear/dread of having a heart-attack or stroke (like most members of my family) and I believe the anxiety is showing up as all these pains and symptoms in my body.  That's me.  The person who started this string of discussions is probably feeling totally guilty and scared about his enounter with the person he barely knew.  I know I've gone through that before.  All these things, especially the feeling of guilt can stir up all kinds of symptoms - and the thing is they are real - so do not ignore them.  Be very honest with yourself and with your physician (somebody you can totally trust - somebody who is also a counselor and who will listen to everything) - there just might be something real that requires real treatment. Good luck.

It actually could be syphillis, which requires you to go to your doctor for a blood test, and take an antibiotic. There are some people who present without a rash, having only the symptoms you describe, those are some of the symptoms. The good thing-it's curable!

the sudden onset is curious , but the rest of it sounds like candidiasis. which most doctors  won't acknowledge because they cause most cases with antibiotics .

As a certified medical practitioner, conditions as described are usually caused by an immune deficiency virus which u probably acquired during unprotected sexual intercourse. I would advise that you visit your local hospital and explain the symptoms. have your doctor recommend a medical counselor if needed. Regards

I started suffering from very random and odd symptoms about 8 yrs ago. I first would get random swelling as if having an allergic reaction to something. My mouth was the first and thought I must have a infection in my tooth. Months later I would wake up with swollen lip or ankle. Then I started getting itchy everywhere and I thought my dandruff had gotten so bad it started causing scabs on my scalp. I did have a Dr diagnose me with scalp psoriasis. Then I got pain and swelling in foot that I could not put any pressure on it. Dr thinks plantar fasciatis (?). Next I wake up one day without any injuries to myself with a swollen index finger. Drs find nothing wrong after xrays and blood work to exclude gout. After a yr of my finger staying swollen, just one toe swells up. I find a dr who listens to me and I tell her I feel like my body is attacking itself. She runs labs and nothing really showed except a slight elevation in rh factor. I get refered to a Rheumatologist who says its psoriatic arthritis. They put me on methotraxate and celebrex, about 2 yrs ago. Now I get joint pain randomly everywhere...knees, elbow, fingers, and ankles. I also get numbing pain in my arms and hands. I have seen the Dr for severe muscle pain in neck and upper back/shoulder area as well which shows normal wear and tear. I know my muscle pain is relieved by compression and rubbing, but the pain in the joints hurts when pushed on, almost as if its bruised. I have lots of stomach burning and nausia. I definitely have heard its related to stress. I feel lik I am going crazy and am I hypochondriac? I am tired of talking to Dr and paying for appts when all they do is throw pills at you and look at you like your crazy. I have actually stopped taking some medications that has been prescibed and just dont tell the Dr. Does not seem to make a difference when on them. I pretty much stick with my methotraxate, folic acid, vitamin e and d. I stopped everything else. I think at this point I just rather pretend I'm okay even though my body is attacking itself.
