Second, Mince pies...stinking horrible gooey black stuff - what kind of devilry ever came up with such a substance?
Personally if it's round and called pie i love it - but i draw the line here.

BIG FAT 1 on the mince pie thing.....BLECHHH!!!! I never got the point there. For me, it is anything chocolate, particularly a really rich flourless chocolate torte recipe that I got from Fine Cooking a couple years ago. My sister in law also makes the best blueberry pie on the planet! SLURP!

When I was a kid my mother made mince pie every time our neighbor got a deer and gave us some of the meat. I used to love her mince pie but there must be a thousand different ways of making mince pie because I haven't found any I like in the 65 years since then. I also got a pair of deerskin gloves from one of their kills. We had great neighbors back then even though they were Catholic and we are Methodists we worked well together.
