Everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to wish my SteadyHealth family and friends a warm and Happy Thanksgiving. Many of you have been there in some of my ugliest times and still there to laugh with me in some of the funniest of situations. Healthnfitnessguy, njoynlife, Ninja and Medic dan, just to name a few, i thank you all from the bottome of my heart.

Be sure to give thanks for all the good that has come your way, hug your kids extra strong, and be kind to one another, always.

Don't eat to much tomororrow, (ya right) don't drink to much either (ya right) and at the end of the day when your kicked back in that comfy chair with your home made pumpkin pie watching the football game, look around you and see how lucky you really are, i know i will.

Cheers and much love

Thanks Beeb, and right back at you. :-D
I was going to ask you what you're doing tomorrow. Are you having a gang over to your place? I bet you are ---- the mother in you wouldn't let you do it any other way. XD

We're having em all over, and a few non relatives who have nowhere else to go.
My oldest son lives with his wife who takes care of her elderly father so I don't know how they are going to do it. Last year they came over here but her father stayed home.

My youngest son lives with us and his ex won't let his daughter come over here because she feels she should have Thanksgiving with her family. :-( I guess she doesn't consider him and us to be his daughter's family. o.O They have JOINT custody but she gets away with doing whatever she want's, the court won't step in. Neither will the guardian ad litem. 8-|

I'm going to eat too much!!!!
I'm NOT going to drink too much.
I won't be watching any stupid football game.
Do they have any women's beach volley ball games on? I'm old, not dead. :-S
I'll be sleeping, anyway. 8-|

I am having all the kids, minus the grands, the father has them tomorrow. But Christmas will be suicidal (kidding ok!!!) I am hugh on the 25th of December, as Christmas is my all time favorite holiday, always has been. My kids grew up like that and that is how they like it, loud, happy, laughter, wrappin paper goin in all directions, nice family fun. So tomorrow will be some what on the quiet side, just 6 of us, but my friend and her fam are commin over for desert. I made an awesome pumpkin and rum pie :-| a spice roll up with creme cheese fillin and a apple crumb cake...hmmmm, loosen the belts boys!!
It's funny but i actually get offended if they go someplace else on the holidays, i can't wait till they all get here, but i start watchin the clock after about 5 hours :-S
Anyway, it will be pleasantly different without the hub, key word is pleasantly. He is not one for the holidays, his philosophy is the only ones that make out is Hallmark and Walmart, (he is a little right, but very little) He is going to my X son in laws for dinner, what ever 8-|

I am thankful for everything that has happened, i think that it was meant to be anyway. I am not sad at all, just a little stressed. The holidays have a way of making a sad situation sadder but not in this case, man i sound nasty :$

Hey if you have extended cable, i'm sure you can find a pack of half naked drunk chicks smackin a ball around XD XD
Happy Thanksgiving njoynlife :-D

I ate way too much for Thanksgiving! What was on everyone's menu? I had the regular stuff--stuffing, turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Did anyone have any standouts?

I had a standout, it stood out so far it found itself in the garbage can >;) I tried a new pumpkin pie recipe, why i do this when company is comin i'll never understand. It was sort of a custardy pie but the key ingredient was 3 tablespoons of rum, well it tasted like s**t. I made the filling following the directions to a T, as anyone that bakes knows you have to be precise with your measurements, anyway i tasted the fillin and it sort of made me grimace but i figured the baking process would take care of the gasoline taste. Surprise, it made it worse o.O It was bad, real bad. My son tasted it and he pulls no punches mind you, he looked at me and casually waltzed over to the garbage can and spat it out, then he took a paper towel and started to clean his tongue with it, all the while making sure that i knew it was, yuck, yuck, and more yuck. All right already, i get the picture. So in the trash it went, my beautiful pie, oh well.

Then they started to remind me of the Key Lime pie i attempted to make from scratch a few Easters ago. When i say from scratch, that's what i mean. Grateing lime peel is a b***h, 2 cups of it. I had to hand squeeze 6 limes as i could not find my juicer at the time, what a pain in the butt. Well i put the pie together and it looked like it belonged in a magazine, i sliced a lime and made a pretty decoration for the top of the pie and did some beautiful whipped creme rosettes all around it.
Everyone ooed and ahhed when i brought the pie out after dinner. Well............it tasted like PINE SOL, i felt like i could scoop the custard out of the shell and scrub my kitchen floor with it.
That pie now floats aimlessly around pie heaven and was recently joined by his brother, the pumpkin pie, tho they were real bad, all pies deserve to go to heaven.

No disasters over here this year. We only had 6, me and the wife, 2 sons, a daughter in law aka "the perky one", and a woman my wife knows who would have been alone in a rooming house. We found out Friday that one of our tenants was home alone. We would have invited him if we'd known. Now we feel crappy about that.

I was determined not to overeat this year so my plate looked bare compared to everyone else's. Turkey, stuffing and olives, datsit. I let the rest of em have all the squash, string beans, mashed potatos and probably some other things I didn't even look at. It was worth it, I felt great all day. XD

It was really boring. Most of our dinners are more like at Beeb's house. The boys have their comedy routines finely honed.

What's this stuff Ma?
Is there a picture of it in the cook book?
Bet it doesn't look like that :-P :-P

Usually when we're razzing her about something that she's trying to feed us, the perky one takes her side with "I think it's good". But we have a classic from the last get together. It was waffles, and she made them with wheat flour. With enough maple syrup and butter you could hardly tell, but then she made more because we ran out. Of course she didn't tell us she did one of her now famous weird substitutions. She ran out of real milk so she used soy milk. The perky one got the first one. I wish I had a photo of her face when she bit into that. Actually I wish it was a video to capture the sound she made too. It was sort of a gurgling grunt choking sound. Of course that was the topic of conversation for a little while this time. Even if you're new to the family, you have take your shots.

This year was really good --- and boring. The turkey was cooked as opposed to raw or leathery. The olives tasted like olives. The stuffing wasn't like last years stuffing soup. We had nothing to complain about. It just wasn't any fun at all.

The perky one always brings something to fatten me up. This year it was a chocolate peanut butter pie. This morning i weighed 4 pounds more than I did on Wednesday and there's still some of that pie left. But I have 3 weeks before I have to go see Heidi at the VA for my annual physical and lecture on how to use a bathroom scale. 8-|

Can I lose 10 pounds in three weeks? I should be able to, I gained 12 in the past 4 weeks.
