miscarriage and cymbalta

I was on Cymbalta for about 2 years when I became pregnant. I was told to wean of asap by my MD. My OB said that it is no big deal to take it during the pregancy and that I would just have to stop a few days before delivery because it just sometimes causes breathing problems with newborns.

Well, I listened to my MD and stopped. I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. For the person who had a successful pregnancy while on it, I commend you and am glad you were successful, but with all of the similar posts, I'm wondering if the Cymbalta had something to do with it and I also think that the FDA should investigate.

I am sorry to hear these stories and wish everybody luck. I am scared because I started taking cymbalta 2 weeks ago and just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant. I am shocked that the doctor did not know I was pregnant when she prescribed it. Do you really think I am destined to miscarry. I cant seem to find any solid information

hi i am also taking cymbalta and miscarried early at 6 weeks,from what ive looked at duloxetine (cymbalta)is harder to get off than heroin and the drug co that promoted it are well aware of this but witheld this info

Has anyone had a successful birth After they stopped taking cymbalta? I'm freaking out.

A late reply but I really feel for you .. While someone is able to have a full term healthy baby while on Cymbalta is great to hear the pharmeceutal companies or GPs won't admit to early miscarriage from this drug.
They live off the money from these drugs and we are the consumers who are buying these medications, so GPs are salesmen!! Remember the drug companies send the docs on exotic holidays with their wives and families in order to sell their product.

I've tried to fall pregnant for 3 years and coming off this horrible drug now. I believed I was pregnant with a negative result a year and half ago but had a undiagnosed miscarriage.

How about Liver problems and nervous system problems? Drugs cause these side effects.

If I do fall pregnant in the future then would it be safe to say to someone that they should reconsider going on a drug such as cymbalta. That coming off it can be absolute agony and painful.

well if that was the case and STOPPING can cause Miscarriage then maybe just MAYBE the GP, the Pharmacy AND the Packaging on the Box should state:
If you are considering falling pregnant DO NOT stop medication immediately as this can hurt your baby OR do not miss one dose of medication while Working as you could lose your job from not performing OR this affects your LIVER, OR coming off this drug at ANY TIME will be harder than the reason you got onto it in the first place.

We're not talking about an aspirin to codeine here.....

I didn't know I was pregnant andI decided to come off the 60mg of Cymbalta that I had been taking for 11 months. I started having terrible stomach cramps and went to the hospital the next day. They told me I was pregnant (about 5 weeks). They took me to do an ultrasound and couldn't see anything, they thought it might have been too early. About 4 days later I suffered a miscarriage. This was my second (with the first I had never even heard of cymbalta). I have 2 precious boys and would love to have more. I too suspected that I miscarried due to the Cymbalta because I had quit taking it. I had to be put back on it due to the horrible withdrawals. My doctor is currently lowering my dosage to wean me off. I plan on waiting a couple months after coming off of it completely (just to make sure it's good and out of my system) and try again at getting pregnant. I truly believe it was the Cymbalta. I did research to see if there's been any cases like mine and couldn't find anything. But tonight (7 months layer) I came across this sight. I'm thankful to finally have some answers and to be able to put this to rest. I feel your pain and I grieve with each of you. Something should be put out there that Cymbalta can and will cause miscarriages.

Hi, I'm 10 weeks pregnant and accidentally took my husband's duloxetine as I thought it was my prenatal vitamin yesterday morning. Very stupid and careless of me. I've been under a lot of stress and was absent minded. My husband is cheating on me and I confirmed it yesterday. About lunch time I started spotting but was just light pink on toiled paper. Thought it was because of stress so I showered and try to relax. An hour later I went to toilet and there was bright red spots on my underwear. And color of pee is red. I panicked. I went to doctor and he ordered hcg test. I didnt tell him i took duloxetine by accident because I didnt remember it then. Then I recounted my day and started to dawn unto me that I must have took the tablet of my husband. And coming back home I started to clearly remember that I took it like I was just taking my vitamin. I cannot blame my self so much for being so careless. The bleeding has subsided. I want to ask is there anyone who takes cymbalta duloxetine while pregnant and experienced spotting or bleeding and still went on to have healthy pregnancy and baby? Please reply. I can't talk to anyone else.

I just found out I am about 5wks tested positive on a pregnancy test and I don’t know if I should go cold turkey or wean off it idk what to do I can’t call the doctor until the AM
