mom is on meth and is swollen/ is this a effect of meth

my mom and dad are both addicted to cocaine. i have been trying to get them help for some time. they recently separated and now my father and i recently discovered my mom is using crystal meth. her face, hands, temples and feet are swollen. someone told my dad this is a side effect to using meth. is this true? my mom has also said that she itches all over. could this be another effect? please help!!

This could be a staff infection which meth users are prone to getting. I know when i was using i used to get them all the time. check to see if her glands are swollen in the crease of her legs...sweat glands in her armpits...if so ask her to got o teh doctor before she breaks out in sores that ooze puss...

I'm not sure about the swelling. I had water retention when I used but I was a very heavy drinker. With her itching or having that feeling it is normal while using and once you've quit for a period of time if or once it starts coming out of her pores.

You can't help someone who doesn't want help. I'm sorry sweetie... I don't want to mention certain things that can help her not get as ill as fast because in order for someone who suffers from addiction to get help they have to hit they're rock bottom. You should not enable her, it will only make things worse.

- Recoverying drug addict and alcoholic. I know what addiction is like from both ends - living with addiction problems and watching loved ones suffer.
