My sister had a severe back injury and while in hospital, she had been given morphine. She was in great pain, so morphine was added to therapy. But while under morphine she acted strangely when she returned home, with mood swings, nausea with vomiting. She said that it was morphine causing pins and needles sensations. Could this be really morphine?

All the symptoms you have mentioned are overlapping with side effects of using morphine. Not just these, there are also some other side effects that might emerge. I think that, in her best interest, her doctor must be informed about this, perhaps her dosage will be changed or therapy entirely. Anyway, this has to be done in order to make her feel better. She already has enough trouble as it is.
