I hope someone can help me. Previously, I was able to retract my foreskin all the way down over the glans when soft, but had some slight phimosis when hard. Last month, I noticed a very slight tiny nik on my frenulum, and thought nothing of it. Now somehow my frenulum has shrunk dramatically to the point where I can only emerge 1.5cm of my glans before I am straining a very short, thin white cord that wont abide any stretching. This is really freaking me out. I don't want to have a circumcision when I've had a healthy working penis for over 20 years!

I've been told that the frenulum is simply too short for a frenuloplasty to work (by a nurse), so my only other option would be a frenulectomy unless someone here has a suggestion. Why is there so little information on frenulectomies online? What are the risks involved?

Side Note: I have been told by someone that this cord is in fact not the frenulum, because the frenulum is anchored at the base of the glans and cannot restrict movement of the foreskin in such a way, thus the cord is some kind of 'adhesion' or 'skin bridge' that has formed over the frenulum. Is this possibly correct?
