With any pregnancy there are risks and it doesnt matter your lifestyle, although there are greater risks with drug abuse...Im not really sure about the father using drugs, but I do know that if the mother uses them then the baby could have birthdefects, and also come out addicted to the drug itself...Like if the mother uses herion or crack, the baby will be addicted to it and there will be birthdefects, I have seen this many times before...I would call your local obgyn or planned parenthood, and say my husband has been taking vicodin and oxycoton off and on for about 4 years what could the effects be..They could give you a better answer..You can remain annon and not give them any more information than that...As for how long you should wait, I would wait at least 2 weeks to a month for his system to become clean before actually tring to have a baby..Hope this helps, if you have any more questions please let me know and I will be more than glad to try to help you out...Hope this helps

The effects of any drugs he has taken, in regard to the pregnancy, I believe would need to effect the integrity of the sperm, as Indiana said you should call your doctor and ask, or even bring it up when you go in for your prenatal appointment.

In regards to your pregnancy itself, just in case you needed to know, confirm with your doctor and a pharmacist about any effects of medications you could take. Do not take anything except Tylenol either, unless your doctor tells ou otherwise. Personally with my 2nd daughter I was T4's because of major migraines during my pregnancy with her. I am 15 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and 2 weeks ago had major surgery to remove a large ovarian tumor. During my recovery they gave me morphine in moderation, as well as Vicodine, and Darvocets. Again these were monitored by the doctors, and also they waited till after the 1st trimester was over before giving them to me.

Hope this helps!
