My son was born rather large down there, and the nurse said he'd likely grow into it like most boys do. Over lockdown we've been mostly unable to see a nurse and his willy just hasn't stopped growing. It's making life very uncomfortable for him in clothes and I need to help him wash and use the toilet in case he makes a mess.

He's 7yo and it's already the size and width of a can of coke. School is starting soon and I cannot fit him into his new uniform trousers.

Will sending him to school in sweatpants be an issue? Are there underwear brands that will cater for boys like him? When's he going to stop growing so much?

when you say the size of a coke can do you mean length or width because if the width is the size of a can of coke then you should take your child to see a doctor as soon as possible, if it's the length of coke can then that pretty big also and should be look at by a doctor also. If you can try measuring penis length and width in order to get a better understand of the size. Also has your child describe any pain come from his penis?

I mean both length and width. I'm trying to book an appointment again today, but no luck.

I measured him this morning when he woke up. It's 2 and a half inches across the top and 5 and a half inches along the top from the start of his willy to the very end. He says it doesn't hurt but it gets uncomfortable in the heat and when he wears anything over it like underwear.

I don't think it's urgent to see a doctor but you should do it as soon as possible if it's not hurting. Just by curiosity how big of a penis does son's father have because if he also has a big penis then it would make more sense and it just might be a genetic thing inherited by his father. Also is your son circumcised or uncircumcised because I heard that uncircumcised penis might seem slightly bigger than a circumcised penis based on the extra skin?

He was large, but nothing like this. He's uncircumcised and will stay that way. He does have a lot of foreskin, but it's definitely not the cause. I pull it back to wash him because he can't do it himself. Do you think I could send him to school in sweatpants instead? I cannot fit him in his trousers no matter how I arrange him.

It's a good thing your son is uncircumcised. I don't know the rules around the dress code but if you can maybe try talking to the teacher or a staff member at the school and tell them if it's possible for you son to wear different pants do to a medical reason. As far as underwear brands you son I don't know of any that cater to boys with big penis but maybe if you google it you can finds some, maybe try not wearing any underwear if that might help. He will probably keep on growing but don't expect it to grow a lot until puberty. If you have any more question feel free to ask.

I've tried about seven brands of underwear and nothing so far has been up to task. I can't close the zipper on him without squashing everything down one of his legs which makes him very uncomfortable. He had a grumble about it yesterday when I made him try his school trousers on again - and I must admit it did look rather obvious and uncomfortable.

Is there a way you can politely ask a tailor for more room at the front without increasing the waist?

I wouldn't worry too much about a "polite" way to explain the problem to a tailor - simply be honest. A good tailor will have seen something similar before, and will understand. I suspect you'll have to have trousers made rather than altered, though, so your son will have to go to the tailor with you. I realize that may be somewhat of an embarrassing situation for him, but the first time is the worst, and being comfortable is ultimately well worth it. Secondly, this is something he's always going to have to deal with, and he may as well learn to manage it now.

About underwear - the only options are either no underwear or very loose boxer style underwear. Boxers vary quite a bit, and many are quite loose in that area. There's nothing wrong with no underwear if that's how he's most comfortable, though.

Finally, have you taken him to a doctor about this? It may just be genetics, but there may be some other cause for his continued growth - something they could possibly stop. It's probably worth finding out, for his sake.

I have had the same problems with my son. He has always been extremely large down there and now that he is 13 it almost hangs down to his knees now. He usually wears sweatpant or large cargo pants or short. Some time ago he completely stopped wearing underwear - they are just too uncomfortable for him and it's almost impossible to find anyone that fits. He also sleeps completely nude, that's the only way he can be comfortable in bed and it gives him such release not to have binding clothes on.
