:-) Hi, just reading through this site, my boyfriend has a up and coming check up, thought i would pop in and ask some questions, but with access to the internet most questions are answered, it's nice to hear other sufferers points of view, mainly you all have the same concerns, especially the last fella 18 with a twin sis and brother, my fella is athletic with a twin sis and brother, lol!!! We have known each other for years, I never knew anything of his condition untill we started dating over a year ago. I am a mum of one and had a 8 yr relationship with his father so was not looking for anything serious, so me and my friend decided since we knew each other and obviously were attracted (intensely) we should have casual sex and date, which is refreshing!!! I wanted to be straight with him so showed him my stretch marks, he was not bothered at all, I was shocked, because I get alot of attention people don't think about what is hidden under clothes, I thought he would run for the hill's, but he pulled down his trousers, bold as you like and showed me his scars, we laughed!!! The sex by the way was amazing from day one! He was open with me about his condition about a week into dating, I just didn't care, I just wanted to sleep with him again and spend time with him, he's an awesome person all round, I believe because of what he has had to deal with it made him a more rounded person, mature (sometimes) beyond his years. Over a year on I am deeply in love with a fit, sexy man who I couldn't do without. He has told me of the past worries, how he cried himself to sleep and thought what's the point in even being here, I am so glad he summoned the strength to come to term's with everything, because I couldn't imagine a world without him. :-)

The testis produce sperm and testosterone. So hormone replacement is needed. Testosterone shot fortnightly sometimes monthly are administered, there is also gel, which can be applied daily. Different doses are needed for different BMI. My partner uses the gel as it is more steady. I'm not a professional of course so do ask one the same question!!! :-)

Hi everybody! So good to know you are all out there. You are all so brave to talk about this. I've read this string of posts about 5 times. :-) I also have a uterine abnormality and have had a really tough time dealing with the fertility issue too. I am the mom of a wonderful 6 month old boy with the same condition as you all. It is so rough getting the news. I need all of your advice. Do I get him the prosthetics? His team of doctors want to do it at about 10 months when they remove what's left of his testes. I want to do what is right for him and I will do whatever it takes for the rest of my life to see that he has every opportunity he deserves. I'm just so scared of getting it wrong. He's getting the series of 3 testosterone injections now to simulate mini-puberty. Any advice or encouragement you all have would be so appreciated. Looking back is there anything your moms could have done to make dealing with this any easier?

I too have had to deal with this. I'm 29 and it's still painful that I wont be able to father children.

To parents reading this: When you get your child implants make sure they are the gel- like silicon and not the hard rubber ones. I have the latter and it is very obvious to sexual partners that they are fake.

Hi everybody.

Today I am much releived to read about all of you. I am happy to note that even with this condition you can have regular healthy sex life. As about having children there are other ways of having a family. Options like adoption are always available. There is lot being done by scientists. My grandson was born without testicles. He is 8 years old now. My querry is at what age we should start testosterone injections and do they have any side-effects. Also what is the ideal age for implants. Will someone throw some light on this aspect.

Hi everyone I was born without any testis at all and I'm living a tough life as a 15-year-old. Is there really, absolutely no way to have biological children? Thanks!

Hello everybody.

I am the mother of an infant affected by "Anorchia" aka "Vanishing testis syndrome".
Testosterone injections are recommended at birth in very low doses for about 4 months so the penile size will not get affected afterwards. Micro-penis is one of the side effects of Anorchia.

When the boy turn 9 years of age is recommended to start with the injections, the dosage is up to the Doctor's consideration, normally it increases with time.

Implants? Well, some patients have them done when they are still children. The younger the better because the escrotum might shrink if you wait too long.

Being a biological father is something that will certainly be possible in the near future via IVF since very recently a group of scientists from Stanford were able to create sperm cells out of follicles.

The only thing we have left really is why this happens.

We are having huge advances in organ regeneration and some hospitals have been very successful with other organs. Hopefully someday the regeneration of the testes will be a reality.

In the meantime, I recommend all of you to participate in the blog "experience project" (I have Anorchia) and join our Facebook fan page: Anorchia.

Cheers!
Hope

although some are excited by the possibility of creating sperm cells ext, the reality of this being available for many many years to come are slim. I think those who are aware of the fact they physically can not reproduce should come to terms with it. It is awful, but not the end of the world. There is ivf with a sperm doner and adoption options. My partner worried about this so much growing up and is now a proud father to our son. He might not be biologically his, but that is not a problem for either of them!!!!

My testicles were amputated in adulthood, but presumably with the help of testosterone supplementation I maintain a totally normal sex life and all the characteristics of almost any other male. I can recall though that I was initially shocked when a urologist suggested that I consider having my testicles amputated. He assured me that I would remain a normal male afterward as long as I maintained a hormone supplementation regime. Within a week I had adjusted to the possibility. The procedure was done with local anesthetic. I have no regrets - so much more comfortable than I would have ever dreamed, and I enjoy sex much more than prior to surgery.
