I‘ve been having very painful periods for years. Everyone assures me that it is normal but I think it is odd. Other girls from my school don’t have this problem. I can’t stand or seat properly during my periods and I always have to take some drug to relive the pain. Why are my periods so painful?

Painful period are called also Dysmenorrhoea. It is not odd, it is more or less normal to feel some period pain, although some women have more pain the others. You may have pain in the lower abdomen which may spread to the upper thighs, but there are painkillers or anti-inflammatory painkillers which usually ease the pain. Cause is not completely understood, but if you notice that pain becomes gradually worse each time or begins day or more before the onset of bleeding call your doctor.
