Firstly, I wholeheartedly recommend getting your hands on some Kenacomb Ointment. Applying this to the affected area after a shower (and thoroughly drying yourself - I'll go into that shortly), will do the job. Within a day my problem was gone, but I kept using it daily for about a fortnight before I didn't see the need anymore. Try pick up the 30g Tube.
Now here are all the steps I took to ensuring I had the best chance of getting rid of this nuisance down south:
- wash genitals in the shower using soap (bit of a no-brainer)
- keep your pubic hair groomed - that is, don't let it get out of control because Ittl just sweat easier and ultimately create smell. Either shave it all off or keep it at a short, manageable length.
- when drying yourself, use a blow dryer to hit those crevasses in your upper thigh area that don't get the best coverage with a towel.
- use dry towels when drying. Don't be complacent and use a wet towel to dry yourself.
- only wear 100% cotton underwear. I actually threw out all of my underwear and started new in case the smell lingered in the material. Ensuring you are wearing underwear that isn't too tight is also important. The groin area needs to breathe. Try wearing cotton boxers to bed too so you get even more air flow.
- don't wair super tight jeans at the start of treating the area. That often wedges your underwear in those thigh crevasses and will promote sweat and dampness. Wear shorts or track pants where possibly in the initial few days.
- although it seems logical, don't use talcum/baby powder to assist drying the groin area. I used it for 2 years and my doctor told me to stop because it was only making the matter worse. Stick to the above steps for making the area clean and dry
Stick to this guys and Ittl work. Good luck.

I would think after getting whatever you have killed, use Dettol diluted to 10 or 20 % and use nightly, no reason you can't use this forever.

I've finally finally beat this, and want to share. I've been suffering from this for years, and have tried many things, but had mostly resigned myself to it, and just showered frequently. But after recently reading these posts, I decided to get some tea tree oil. Went to the local soap shop, got the oil, and on a whim bought a small bar of Alum (looks like a translucent crystal) which is supposed to prevent bacteria from forming; had intended to use it on my armpits. Didn't actually try it out right away, as I was banking on the Tea tree oil working. The tea tree oil did help, but only about 70%, plus it has a very strong smell itself (not bad, almost piney, and while not ideal, it was better then the sour smell). BUT - One day I decided to try the alum on my groin in place of the tea tree oil, and was beyond skeptical, it didn't seem like it even rubbed on. At the end of my shower, I rubbed it on my groin area while still wet, and on my pits. IT WORKED! There has been absolutely NO SMELL. I'm beyond happy; it has been about 10 years of increasingly bad body odor, kind of sour and if I didn't shower at the end of the day it was pretty bad. It has been a week since I started using the alum bar (I bought the smallest cheapest one they had as I really didn't put much faith in it), and there is absolutely zero smell, even at the end of a long sweaty day. I really want to share this, as I'm very happy about it. The store I bought mine had several sizes, but they can be bought online from tons of shops, and are about $8 for a decent size block. Not sure how long it lasts, but I would imagine a very long time, as it seems practically like a stone. For anyone at the end of their rope the way I was, I highly recommend it! I only wish I had done this years ago... I remember my sister having one of these back in high school, for armpits, and I would dismiss it as her 'hippy crystal'. Little did I know.
