I'm on fourth year, if you read this
please READ this
don't use this sh*t (oxycodone)
It eventually just sucks the
life out of you and you become an empty
she'll of a person.......just a bunch of lies holding you together

Actually it lowers your autonomic nervous system and thus your cortisol levels (stress hormone). It has absolutely nothing to do with being "doped up".

Hi, thank you for your input. I'm dealing with the exact same situation you are describing. I suffer from back pains and oxy magically made my depression go away, but I understand what you are saying, I don't want to get to that point, but I'm too scared of going back to an-almost-ten-year period of depression and anxiety with constant med switching... I have tried so many thing (psychotherapy, meditation, and even transcraneal electric estimulation)... My parents are tired and at their wit's end, I haven't been able to fend for myself as an adult, can't find my way into society.... What is left if not a pill that makes my mind work normal... What should I do?

Anxiety is very bad for body and also causes problems of mental health. If someone is having severe anxiety then it is very hard to come out of it.

I know it hurts, but please do not ruin your life because of your divorce. Move forward, one step at a time and do not look back until you are totally healed. Acceptance is the key of depression. Life is good.

I have a friend who had a painkiller addiction previously, got off of them, but has was put back on them after knee surgery. She was also suffering from depression before and after the surgery. She had a ton of risk factors and clearly needed counseling. It did not happen. The oxycodone is wicked stuff. I am so, so fed up with seeing doctors prescribe this stuff to her. She is NOT the same person at all. It's absolutely criminal what they have done to her.
And please understand, I deal with anxiety myself. I take a variety of meds each day (SSRIs) and also receive counseling. Diet, exercise, and sunlight are all really key things for me. I can't drink much if any alcohol without it changing my moods. Would oxycodone make it go away? Yeah, because I would be high. Could I get a general physician to prescribe it to me? Without a doubt. Would I be nearly worthless to those around me? Yes.
Don't do the painkillers for anxiety or depression. It's a complete misuse, and all these doctors who prescribe should be publicly shamed. It's just so wrong. For your own sake, please stay away from it. And if you are a doctor prescribing it, please get your patient to psychological counseling possibly including a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

I have had a fractured pelvis and was treated with oxycodone and alprazolam and after 4 weeks I was up walking and talking and feeling my stress was diminished what a great month ever !!

Yes you do have a risk of being addicted any opiate taken over a month will lead to addiction !

Well oxycodone works on dopamine receptors which causes a euphoric feeling which is like a high. So that is probably why.
