Hi, saw this and thought I'd reassure you. I had my c5,c6, c7 replaced in September and was released after one night. The surgery has changed alot recently so your main recovery time is at home. Didn't have a neck brace and was driving after two weeks in short bursts

I had a 3 level fusion c4-c6 eight years ago. It took me 4 months to return to work. Unfortunately I feel the pain returning. Your pain will reside. Everyone is different. Healing and threshold to pain varies in all of us. Good luck

I had c5-c7 removed with silicone discs and screws four weeks ago and still can't look down without the feeling of being choked. My short term disability ends next week and I am still having the same arms issues with numbness and severe pain. When I lay flat my arms goes numb and even sitting at times. The burning in upper back doesn't help. I need to go back to work but afraid to.

I've had c3,4,5,6,7 all done. This was completed in two phases, the last part just five years ago. I still get occasional pain and weakness.i can't imagine it ever going away. At least I no longer have the total loss of use of my left hand (which had happened one day and I thought I had stroked). When I do have pain, it can be pretty severe and can last for several days. Ice, pain patches, and oxycodone help.
Although the surgeries and the recoveries weren't fun, it was ultimately worth it.

I can relate to this as I had this surgery know the pain you are feeling. You need to understand that when you have this surgery your nerves have to find a new route to take they to have to heal as well. I can tell in time the pain will go away. The nerves in your spinal core have to find new routes to take because they to were moved while you had surgery. The pain will stop when the nerves heal and find there way.. You may have some numbness but that is normal that will go away..

I am in same boat. Had four screws and plated put in 2013 recovery was fast and felt great. Dec 2016 I get awful pain in same area and wind up in er immediately with a bent loose screw sticking into my espohogus and one screw that cracked in half with a piece healed into bone. The other two screws were fine but the surgeon had to removed it all. H going thru an artery and placing stents due to scar tissue. So all hard is now gone and he said there is enough bone growth and new plate and screws not needed. PROBLEM: I'm in the most horrible pain from neck to fingers, can barely hold a water bottle and just cry in pain 24/7. Have tried every medication made plus patches... dr says this normal.. I have the feeling something being missed. I live in Florida and wish I had a way to get myself to a place like New York or Mayo Clinic for a better look as this is not normal. I am 57 and otherwise in good health. Any suggestions are welcome and for all you that suffer I so feel for you. TIA
