I have been having symptoms of mono for a few weeks now, and my fiancee has had mono, and he didn't know he had it until 2 weeks into it, I am still awaiting blood test results to see if I have it

but I have been careful with everything incase my spleen is enlarged and I do have mono, and I have been stupidly been putting the bottom of my computer against it when I prop my knees up so I can balance it and do stuff that way

well when I just went to grab my thermometer cause I felt feverish, I had this sharp pain in my left side that shot downwards and I feel kinda sick from it, I touched it to see if it was tender and it was definitely tender, I cried out in pain

i don't know if I just ruptured my spleen or tore it, cause the pain was right around my spleen area, and my left side of my back hurts

if I don't move, it doesn't hurt really that much, but if I move, it hurts

what do you guys think? what should I do?

I am feel a little lightheaded, and I'm worried

A ruptured spleen is a medical emergency. Internal bleeding can cause your blood pressure to drop, resulting in lightheadedness. Ruptured spleen is usually caused by blunt force trauma. If this is the case, you will need to seek medical care right away.

thank you very much for your advice, and I tried telling mom, but of course she thinks I am being paranoid, I worry too much, blah blah, just like she made me suffer for weeks with a non functioning infected, stone infested gallbladder and a appendix that was seconds from rupturing from stones, she waited at the last minute to finally realize it was serious

-rolls eyes-

as far as I am doing right now, my left side is swollen, you can tell something is wrong there cause its bigger than the other side, there's alot of on and off pain, especially when I move, it seems its worse, and any pressure makes it hurt, I have felt funny since then, lightheaded, a little off, looking and feeling pale, felt feverish but my temperature was like 97.8, so that didn't make any sense

and I have been having excessive..I MEAN excessive sweating to my feet and hands, and I just feel really weird, I don't know if I bruised it, hurt it a little bit, ruptured it or tore it, its got me really worried, I mean unless it was hurting because it was enlarging and a movement caused it to hurt, but then again I did have the edge of the computer pushed against it like a m***n and felt the sharp stab when I leaned over

I don't know what to think, I am confused, scared, worried, and throwing my hands up in the air in what to do

cause I can't tell if its at a life threatening point, or if its minor right now, or what, but I just feel all weird since it, and my body is giving me that "you need to be worried" feeling

course you can't convince my parent anything until the last minute

ugh what's a girl to do

There is not much philosophy in this .... just go to the doctor.... it is obvious sth is wrong...

I think you are panicking. It may be serious, but many of the symptoms you listed are those of a panic attack. (Feverishness, sweating, etc.)

If your spleen was ruptured you would not still be using your computer at this point.
You are having an anxiety attack. Yes you need a doctor but not for your spleen, but for anxiety attacks. Anxiety is a very real condition and can cause other issues, not the least of which is hypertension.
Please see your family practitioner and obtain a refferal to a physician for anxiety disorders, before you have to get a refferal to a crdiologist.

Have you had your iron, iron saturation TIBC test, and ferretin checked? You may have low iron. I do. I am also hypothyroid which can also have a low iron component to it. I have all of the pain you mentioned and more. I am now getting 10 weeks of IV iron infusion treatments. I am on #4. I had my entire GI tract checked, even swallowed a camera capsule, so there is no GI bleed. For now I am waiting for results of IV iron. Then my oncologist will do more blood tests to check levels, if still low, then I will be checked for blood disorders. I am a 16 year cancer survivor so my cause is probably due to chemo and radiation long term effects, but people who do not have or had cancer can get low iron and believe me, it causes a long, long list of symptoms and pain. I am also a retired oncology research nurse who used to work at the Univ. of Chicago.
