I have had my implant about 5 years. It's been a horrible experience. I’ve been extremely depressed. Dr. Kramer at the University of Maryland did the surgery. He assured me that I would love it and that my erections would be harder. Though I asked he never once stated any negative side effects. It's taken me about 3 yrs to somewhat get use to the pain of inflating the device. It is also painful during the first 5 to 15 minutes of sex. Additionally I still need Viagra to have a full girthy erection even with the implant. Something the doctor didn't tell me until after the surgery. To date I still have pain associated with the implant and often times I take pain meds before inflating the device or having sex. I related the discomfort to Dr. Kramer and he actually got an attitude with me and sarcastically asked me “what do you want me to do." He then recommended me to another doctor and that doctor examined me and told me that he could see some discrepancies in the surgery but wanted to charge me another several thousand dollars to correct it. I never spoke to Dr. Kramer again nor did Dr. Kramer ever call to check up on me. Some Dr. huh!!! If I had to do it all over again I definitely would not have gotten the implant. Now I'm stuck because it's irreversible and though it may be painful before and during sex I feel that having some sex is better than no sex. In particular to sustain a relationship. For that reason I will keep the implant and pray that there is an update in the future. Lastly, I had about 10 inches before the surgery, now my growth is about 7.5-8 inches. So yes the implant does shrink the penis over time, another extremely important piece of information that Dr. Kramer conveniently left out. I hope this helps others.
