You may have torn your frenulum. Lay off for a few weeks. Give it time to heal and you should be ok to masturbate.
Masturbation is relaxing, pleasant, enjoyable, harmless, healthy, normal, and contributes to restful sleep if done before bedtime. Masturbation relieves pain from overfilled seminal vesicles.
How you do it depends on whether you have an internally lubricated foreskin that glides up and down the shaft or whether you have been unforeskinned.
If you are foreskinned, then all you need to do is slide your foreskin back and forth. The internally lubricated foreskin glides without friction.
If you are unforeskinned, then you will need some lubrication and you need to slide your hand up and down the shaft. You will likely injure yourself without lubricant. Friction burns are common when a male without foreskin masturbates without lubricant. Some lubricants are baby oil, vegetable oil, personal lubricant, soapy water, and saliva.
It is common, however, for an unforeskinned male, who has been deprived of his internally lubricated foreskin, to have friction burns if he does not apply external lubricant.
You may do it in any private place.

No, you haven't seriously damages your penis; your gut reaction is wrong. The penis is pretty flexible so simple masturbation won't injure it a lot; if it did then you would be feeling pain in the organ, and you didn't mention any pain. A little blood in the urine is normal, but not visible drops of it. This is a sign of an STD (which you probably don't have) or of an internal damage. It can range from kidney trouble, or kidney stones to a lesion in the urinary tract to a minor bladder infection. The only one who will know for sure is a doctor. Since you can't put a bandage on the wound, whatever it is, then it may not heal without medical help. You need to go to a doctor, and do it soon, preferably an Urologist, who specializes in the penis and urinary tract. Normally when you have blood in your urine it becomes a little rust colored. Frequently you won't know if you have blood in your urine unless it is tested. Even clear urine can have some blood in it. If you are seeing actual drops of blood then you have a serious problem. I doubt if it will render you sterile, but the longer you wait the worse the problem will be. It could be a hernia, a bladder infection, damage in the scrotum, or a cut caused by a kidney stone or several other things. Regardless of what it is an injured nerve doesn't bleed. If you injured a nerve then the area could be bruised and sore, or not, but you WILL feel the pain. The structure of the penis is filled with nerves, if it full of blood vessels and it is also full of a lot of spongy tissue which makes it hard to damage the uthera (the tube that passes your urine and semen. The penis is it sensitive so you will get more joy out of sex, and want to do it more, but it is made to take some abuse. (This promotes breeding and is all a part of your genes, so wanting to masturbate is a normal feeling and you are not committing a sin or being an evil person by doing it). My mother didn't like to take us to the doctor’s office; her motto was if it isn't bleeding and falling off then it isn't damaged. Well, she was wrong I had to go to the doctor a couple of times for some childhood problems (no one in my family ever tried faking an illness, because it wouldn't work). Your mother may be feeling a part of this or she may think you are exaggerating, or she doesn't want to think about your sexual organs or several other things could be going on. You need to tell her that you are in trouble, "Mom, I didn't quite tell you all the details. I didn't just have blood in my urine my penis was bleeding. Since I have not been sexually active, lately, I don't know what the problem is, but I really need to see a doctor. It has me worried and I am afraid that I might have damaged something somehow." You don't have to tell her how long it has been or how often you have or haven't had sex, just that it hasn't been lately, so you can say, "No I don't have the Clap or any other STD." You also don’t have to tell her that you have been masturbating. When she asks you what you have been doing say, “That’s the problem, I haven’t been doing anything that I haven’t been doing for years. I am certainly not trying to put anything in it!” After that she will probably want to drop the subject. If she doesn’t then tell her, “I don’t know, I could have kidney stones, a bladder infection, or any of a number of things, I don’t know what is wrong!” If you only put your penis in your hands or in your shorts then I am 99.9% sure that you do not have a STD, but if you are bleeding visible drops from it then something major is wrong and you need a doctor to tell you what is wrong. You can tell your mother that you don’t want her in the doctor’s office with you, “No thanks, mom, I’m a little to old for that.” You should tell your doctor what you were doing, the full truth, at the time you noticed the blood, and tell him how much, if any, pain you felt at that time. He isn’t going to say that you are an evil turned on young man, but he may tell you to take it easy for a while. He will start with a physical exam and then he will want to do some blood work and have you piss in a cup, so go the appointment ready to piss fairly soon. In the mean time take it easy on your penis and don’t masturbate. But, also don’t worry too much you can make the problem worse, but overly worrying about it. When you urinate watch to see if you are bleeding anymore, and check your underpants when you go to the bathroom to see if there is any blood present.
