Surgery is too risky.  In Britain there is a conservative reaction to surgery.  I am taking Gabapentin 300mg three times a day for sciatic pain and sacral pain, it helps. My cysts are between 2 - cms on S2. The time for surgery is when complications arise from bladder and bowel disfunction anyway.

After 5 months with lower leg and back pain and been dismissed by all doctors as if it was something in my head, and after pushing for the past 3 months to get an MRI scan I finally got the results of incidental finding of tarlov cyst....as the rest of my spine or discs are normal. I can see by the symptom that all that I've been sufferi ng for the past 5 months is due to this incidental finding. I just hope to get help to treat it soon as my quality of life has completely diminished since the pain started

Omg. I am in a very similar situation. Pain started after heavy lifting at work, now 6 months later, I find out its a Tarlov cyst. I'm experiencing all of your symptoms , and getting worse. I quit work and am working 3 hrs/day, dragging myself. Barely able to make ends meet. I'm on Lyrica. It helps a lot

I had fallen flat on my back on ice in 2004, finally after a year and a half of doing this, doing that, dr finally decided to do an MRI! Tarlov Cysts it is! One in the left S1 neuroforamen, which could be causing mass effect on the S1 nerve root. Degeneration seen at L5 - S1. Nobody explained ANYTHING to me, this info i found on a report. Dr. just said Tarlov Cysts. That's it. Fast forward 11 years...I have all kinds of things wrong with me now the past 4 years. Back/hips have horrible pain. Hip MRI show NOTHING! Back MRI show Degen Disk Disease. Pain worse on right side, down leg and around to the front in groin area now. Awful to sit for more than 15 minutes....burning, stinging, numbness on right side. Wondering if it could be the cysts acting up!? I have Fibromyalgia, DDD, some stenosis in low back and neck. Hands, legs and sometimes my eyelids swell up and some of my face on left side. Joint pain and "bone pain"? Not sure which....just hurts when you barely press ANYWHERE on my body. I'm falling apart (started at 42). Do these cysts go away on their own? Can i have had these for 11 years now? Have appointments with Ortho in Nov. and Rheumatologist in Dec. I'm tired of feeling this way and have not the best support.

Robert Dodd, md director of neuroscience at Stanford Univ Hospital, California drained my cysts and filled with fibron glue, a temporary fix but lasted a few years of pain relief. They have come back but it is done with an epidural and he took a chance with me after years of suffering and being beddridden and no nuerosurgon would do anything. He's awesome and is easy to see, must call have him send request for MRI in your area after he looks at the disk will probably see you, it is a day long proceedure then your home.

Sorry to hear that you too have Tarlov cyst. I just found out 3 weeks ago in my MRI of the spine that I have Tarlov cyst and other spine problems. My primary doctor and the radiologist didn't say that I need surgery or consultation with a neurologist. I have lots of symptoms from 11 months were I have pain in my lower back, weakness in legs, cramping in legs, feet, arms and hands and numbness. Swelling of my both hips, chronic headache due to my spine. 11 months ago I slipped and fall on the wet concrete floor at my job. My workers Comp at work denied treatment. And return to work full time.
Due to the fall I have sustained these injury in my spine.

Hi, I am curious, when you got hurt, did you fill out a report at work? From what I have been reading, these cysts can be caused by trauma or had at birth. I too have one of these cysts. The point is that you got hurt and it probably aggravated the cyst. Keep looking for atty's. Make sure you filled out a report for work. The biggest problem with workers comp is they don't want to pay for anything. Read up on the laws for workers comp for your state. Good luck

I just received MRI results yesterday with findings of multiple Tarlov cysts and one left-sided perineural cyst at L5-S1. I have been having some the worst sciatica pain for the last 8 weeks. I wish there was more research and information about this condition. All other areas of my spine are fine. All vertebra and disc in great shape. Hard to believe a 1 cm cyst could cause so much pain. Does anyone have any advice, I feel like I'm starting a long journey. I much prefer the natural approach verses shots or surgery.

Look up Tarlov cyst foundation on line. There is good information. I just had surgery to fix the Tarlov cyst I had at T1 on my spine.

I have broken sacrum and have been taking acetaminophen cod per Dr's orders. I noticed my urine is slow. Can you tell me why is that?

What does metallic density projections left sacrum mean on a radiologist report? Radiologist assumed on report it was from post-surgical changes but I have never had surgery. What could it mean or be?
