I had surgery 4 weeks ago today. I only feel like I turned a corner this past Saturday. I was able to get back on my motorcycle for a very short ride. I am a 51 year old woman. The pain was incredible and I regretted getting it done, however, I had a very bad case of internal and a few external. I finally feel like the worst is behind me, and want you to know that it will get better. I had major set backs, my Dr. had me to a colonoscopy prep 48 hours after surgery which kept me going pretty much non stop every 10 minutes for 14 hours straight, resulting in a ripped suture line. The key is finding the right balance of fiber to and stool softener to make bowel movements on the soft side. Take it one day at a time, and know it will get better.....but it is a process....

I feel exactly the same. The pain when I go is unbearable and wiping puts me in tears. It is awful. I tried washcloths but the was to uncomfortable. I am now using wet toilet paper because if not wet it feels like sand paper. The pain meds help with the pain but every time I have a bm it is awful. After my hemmorhoidectomy I started going within 48 hours which is what they had hoped for. Having a bm is excruciating. I can't believe the amount of pain that you can have from this surgery/hemmerhoids. I am now 3 days out and in pure agony. I pray it will get better.

Had I read this thread or known what actually to expect, I'm pretty sure I would have lived with the bowels full of blood that came regularly with ruptured hemmeroids !! I had my staple hemmeroid procedure Monday May 9, 2016. About 36 hours ago. I've been peeing okay despite BPH. WHAT makes me upset is the fact the post operative instructions including the doctor said I could start eating normally right away with no dietary restrictions except add some fiber. Very little emphasis to no emphasis on what to expect re bowel movement. 36 hours later, 4 or 5 fiber drinks (Costco psyllium fiber) 6 ducolet tablets, 2 doses of Milk of Magnesium - and no bowel movement. What is worse is that based on the misleading lack of emphasis on post op diet, is that I had 3 bowelfuls of jello (should be okay) 4 Eggo waffles and a croissant (not okay) six table spoons of icecream (definitely not okay), more jello today and No bowel movement. In fact, the Oxycodone and the Ketorolac do help with the pain, but perversely I read they cause constipation. I've taken 4 Epsom salt baths, three showers, a steam room, the milk of magnesium the ducolet, the fiber drinks and more than a gallon of camomile tea a day. All I get are these weak farts that barely register on volume. At this point, I don't care if I poop in the shower, in the bath tub, on a towel on my bed, ANYWHERE, I JUST want the relief of an I painful bowel movement. I feel like my anal muscles are scared to open. If I had known this ahead of time, I would have gone on an applesauce only diet for the first days. I now realize I have had over 2 gallons of Camomile tea today. I have been peeing well, but the anus has that closed and painful feel until the oxy kicks in. This thread scares me with the number of people who went back for morphine assisted enemas. My co-pay deductible is at least $2,000 so far and I've had no income for two years and no public assistance - just plowing through all my savings at a horrific rate. One more year and I will have to sell my home that I literally put my blood, sweat and tears into (two trips to ER while general contracting my remodel). On top of this, my girlfriend gets diagnosed with Lupus, was in ICU for three days just before my operation, and is angry at the world and takes it out on me while I am in pain. Her mother arrived from a third world country above Greece for a month at my house and asks every day why I haven't yet married her daughter - while I'm in great pain! I was ready to kick both of them out permanently for adding stress at the worst possible time. Now in fairness, my girlfriend has been great, but her help comes with anger because she is on steroids post ICU AND They compound her terrible ADD.
I just want to have a bowel movement and I don't care if it's naked in front of all my friends and a bunch of strangers. The Oxy just kicked in and man, ALL THE PAIN went away. Wow. Still the people on this thread make the first post op bowel movement sound like something to fear - great pain, followed by great pain. Owwwwwwwww. Just had a pain hit. $20,000.00 plus for this sh-t??!!!! What the ever loving God smack f-ck??!!!!
