Is there a cure for proximal myotonic myopathy? My husband was diagnosed with it and it has really shaken our family. Not just emotionally, he earned most of our money. Will this affect his work? I don not want to sound heartless, but without his incomings I have to consider finding a better job, maybe two jobs, I don't know. Does anyone have response for my question?

Proximal myotonic myopathy is muscle disease. It does progress, slowly though, and it affects facial and upper torso and shoulder muscles. This condition causes weakness and atrophy of these muscle groups, and unfortunately it is a very serious condition. The medicaments can only stabilize and slow down the spreading of disease. But, to remove it completely, I am afraid that it is impossible.
