Hi, all! Can anyone give me some info about Remicaid? I have been on Enbrel for some time and it was ok, but two days ago I fell on my back, and pain got much, much worse! I am not able to do my job well as before (I’m making furniture), so my income is reduced down to almost 60%! Now, my doctor is suggesting me to change to Remicaid, since it’s much cheaper, but I really don’t know – I fear that side effects could be nasty! Do you have some remicaid info??

Well, I know some people who decided not to take Remicaid (or Enbrel), but to look for alternative solutions. If you’ve been on Enbrel you don’t have to expect any side effects due to switching to Remicaid, since both meds are biologics, and function in similar way. Also, both are pretty much useful in the beginning, but there is possibility that after some period of time they won’t be able to reduce your pain so much. Then, I really think that you should take the risk with side effects, because I guess that you already suffer the pain so much that it is worth trying. Anyway, the side effects vary from person to person, so go with your luck, and - good luck!

I must caution you against the use of Remicaid. My 14-year-old son suffered from Crohn's disease and our physician suggested trying Remicaid since we had very little luck with steroids and other typically successful treatment methods. I was skeptical but agreed and he had several treatments. I cannot prove anything but I can tell you that my son's immune system became so compromised that he absolutely could not fight off anything. It was awful for him. His Crohn's finally became so critical that we were forced to allow surgery and he developed an infection following the surgery which he was unable to fight off and we unfortunately lost him. You cannot imagine the pain and guilt and loss that I have experienced every moment since losing him and I must wonder if the Remicaid was not greatly responsible for this. Again, I cannot prove anything but I must at least ask you to consider the risks before pursuing this very dangerous drug with side effects that are not completely known yet. I wish that I had given it more consideration and maybe my son would still be with me today. Thank you for your time and for allowing me to respond. Best of luck to you. God Bless!
