Hello,
I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in May 2013, and medications didn’t really help in controlling my flare-ups at all so I ended up in emergency surgery and now ileostomy was placed. I’m hoping it’s temporary since I’m only 18, but I am nervous that as soon as I get the reversal I will have another Crohn's flare, end up really ill again and have to get another stoma. The thing is I hate the stoma, but my life has been better - no flare ups, I can eat a lot more foods that I couldn’t before. What also worries me is that if I have reversal, I’ll just end up where I was before the surgery.

hi Tom, My 16 year old daughter has a tempoary ileostomy for her crohns too and she has the same worries. We have been told it very much depends on where your crohns is most active that dicatates if a reversal will bring it back, and a lot of it seems to just be down to luck. You can get a lot of questions ansered and gets lots of support from people who know exaqctly how you are feeling.
