I suffered from the symptoms listed of Roemheld Syndrome for 10 years (living in hell) and no one believed me not even the doctors. Until I explained that is might be Roemheld Syndrome. I had PVC’S , and the worst which is dangerous long Q-T syndrome. Well finally I was seen by specialists and Chief Cardiologist at the VA in Dallas which he did not buy it. He said there has to be more to this. So he had me go through a series of blood work test and charted my levels. Long story short I was diagnosed with Gitlemans Syndrome, 1 in 40,000 people get it, it’s genetic. The reason for the irregular heart beats is from very low potassium and magnesium for the rest of the symptoms you feel or your body are not working properly for the lack of. Sometimes your levels might be some what in range and that’s why they didn’t understand. And sometimes the potassium and magnesium dropped, hence having all theses symptoms. So the kidneys are not functioning as they are designed to and release potassium and magnesium from the kidneys faster than they should. So they tested my urine and there it showed LARGE amounts of potassium and magnesium, which is not normal. But its treatable with supplementation. Unfortunately I have to take it for the rest of my life but its all over. And now I live perfectly fine. Of course they had to adjust my medication throughout the years because I needed more potassium and magnesium. At first they gave me Sucralfate to heal my stomach and intestines which helped me so much! I do also take pantroprazole to help me. Avoid acidic foods or drinks while healing. My EKG’S are now perfect and I have no more symptoms whatsoever. Before I close. Once they told me to take a regular aspirin (despite this story just a FYI, I think we are affected or sensitive to stronger or acidic foods or medications) well I had irregular heart beat. They realized that I need ENTERIC coating aspirin if needed in the future. So yes the stomach does affect the vagus nerve or the acid affects the esophagus triggering PVC’S. I was told that with Gitlemans Syndrome can occur in your younger years or later in life. So my Mom and Dad have the same gene and it usually affects the fourth child. Why couldn’t I win the lottery... that’s all the information I have for you. Please pass this information on to help people all around the world so you will no longer suffer and be educated and live normal again. Take care!
