Had to share this with the community. No links will be posted in keeping with the terms of use but I thought a lot of people might find this interesting. The other day a gentleman in his mid 30's asked me why doesn't get physically excited when watching porn anymore. He explained that when he was younger he would have an erection all during a pornographic movie except maybe for breaks. He has normal sexual relations with his wife and has no erectile dysfunction and has a normal level of sexual desire. He watches about 2 to 3 hours of pornography a week. Turns out many recent studies have been investigating this and the answers they are uncovering are a little surprising.
It seems that the idea of watching sexual acts is somewhat of a novelty to humans and that after seeing so many of them the brain continues to be aroused but does something funny. It attenuates the body's response to the imagery purportedly as a way to preserve sexual faculties for when they are needed for actual and not imaginary sex. The effect is similar in both sexes. This proves once again that the brain is not only the largest sex organ but also the most important.
It would be nice if those in the community could share their thoughts on the matter. It's one of those "if your mind is in it your body will follow" kind of things. I urge you to research it yourselves as well.
