ME TOO!! I had it REALLY BAD when I first discovered my shaky legs about 7 years ago. I am 32 yrs old now. I went to doctor after doctor, had the MRI in my brain and spine to rule out MS and early Parkinsons. Then they thought I had Lymes Disease for about 6 months. Went to 3 doctors in Raleigh, one in D.C., even The Mayo Clinic. THEN, we went to our regular family doctor who finally told me I had severe Hyperthyroidism/Graves disease. Got on medicine for anxiety and my thyroid problems. Our family doctor gave me Xanax, and propranol to control my shaking on top of my everyday polythryoline (or however you spell the thyroid med.) It's truly helped. Since then my specialist finally encouraged me kill off some of my thyroid gland. I took a radioactive iodine pill, now I take synthroid everyday for the rest of my life. It is very obvious that is my thyroids now. I have had multiple infertility treatments. I've been married for 5 years now. We are in the process of adopting.

Hello,

I have had strange symptoms for many years.  The shaky leg is a new one.  When I drove a long distance, I notice my right leg shaking,

Also, I was nervous about something a couple times, and my right leg was shaking really bad!  Could hardly drive. I don't consider this to just be a nervous issue, although stress brought it on.  Going (AGAIN) to a specialist doctor, and hopefully, I can finally get an answer.   Thanks, for your message!

hello there I googled "violent leg shaking" and I found your post, since this post was a year ago im not sure if you have been diagnosed with anything but you say its "not MS or Parkinson's" BUT you are showing the same symptoms that I am having and iv been diagnosed with a condition (A rare one) that mimics MS and it is called: "Superficial Siderosis of the Central Nervous System" it might be good to mention you to your doctor is it could be anything from what you have said but this is one possibility.

Oh wow. Superfical Siderosis sounds scary. I just finished reading the information about it. I will tell you, my shakiness definately gets worse in public. Sometimes I feel like everybody is watching me, so my legs get shaky from what feels like anxiety. They are not weak, and I have no other symptoms. I don't get headaches. But it has deaply affected me and my ability to work outside of home. Doctors have told me it's Essential Tremor and my Thyroid. Sometimes medications help but not lately. I have also found alcohol helps it go away completely. And when I googled ET i do have ALL the symptoms for that, so I really don't think it's Siderosis at this point. I just wish there was something that helps better than what I'm taking now. Basically nothing works and I just have to deal with it. :(

I'm no Dr. but many in my family have a disorder called "Restless Leg Syndrome" or RLS. My RLS comes and goes for months at a time, but my mother and sister have it daily/nightly. It can result in jerking legs or arms, strange "pulling" sensations deep in the legs or leg that only lessen by jerking or moving the leg(s). Some also have a connected symptom called PLMS whic is Periodic Limb Movement Syndrome where arms or legs uncontrollable "jerk" or move and can wreak havoc on a bed mate. From my research, I found it is neurological in nature and they even have several medicines specifically for RLS. Talk to your Dr. as soon as you can, as symptons vary but are miserable and can destroy sleep. Also, certain meds can intensify the "jerking" or pulling sensations causing them to be worse. Ask Dr. about RLS. God Bless you, I know your pain.

The same thing happens to me. This has happened over the last several years. I first noticed it in church while I was sitting with my feet on the kneeler. Both my legs were shaking. Not violently, just enough for me to notice. It hasn't gotten worse. But I can definitely notice it if I lean my elbows on my knees and watch my hands then shake. I haven't gotten medical intervention yet because it hasn't affected daily living. This past year I have noticed my hands starting to shake as well. I have recently read some articles and it could be tension and stress. I am going to try relaxation techniques to combat it. I also noticed if my blood sugar is low it will be worse or if I am working outside on my feet and my legs are under stress they will shake more. Getting older will be a challenge.

my leg shakes too like when i'm in class. I can't keep still. It could be anxiety or just fear or nervousness over a premonition. You feel as if something is going to happen. I'm 13; i'm no doctor but i research these stuff
