I want you to know I read through each and every single post. I am so glad to see others out there that have the symptoms I do.

I had a total thyroidectomy 2.5 months ago. I have the worst aching in my chest/shoulder on the left and shooting pains down my arm and hands and fingers.

Although we are trying to still get my levels right I DO know that my Vitamin D & Magnesium were/are extremely low and was told that had some of the symptoms attached to that.

I have yet to see true relief and i fear it is turning me into a nutcase because the smallest little twinge and i am checking my pulse and starting to panic. (sometimes it feels like I am having a heart attack when the pains hit)

I was also told that was my "anxiety" creating the pains' intensity and I might need antidepressents..LOL

I did also want to throw out there a question... Do any of you feel the aching or pains and almost like your adrenalin is TOO pumped after working out and you can't get it calmed? I am having that issue and my heart rate never shoots up or anything just like a manic panic of something I can't calm down...then the pains and aching gets worse.

Anyway thanks for reading, keep me posted on all of you. Lots of love and god bless! You aren't alone!

Cherokee, I am 71 year old female and I just had thyroid removed 2 weeks ago and I am experiencing the exact problem that you described. I feel that I have mucus/phlegm in my throat and have to clear my throat often. I also wheeze. On my followup visit to my surgeon 9 days after surgery, he told me that this would clear up in a few weeks, however, after reading all of these testimonies, I'm not so sure if it will clear up.

I too am going threw the same things. I had my thyroid removed in 09 and the RI treatment that's same year. I've been on synthriod 150 mg. Now ever since I drank that RI I've had stomach issues gerd, and the doctors will not acknowledge the connection. Its something I've been doing. Also I've go low energy can't lose wieght .aches and pains on a daily basis. I'm gluten free I eat right, yet my endo still says I need pshyciatric help for this! I said so this is all in my head???. Being I can't get a new endo in my area I have no seen her since. So now she emails me and says my levels on paper are too high! This is beyond frustrsting . I'm not crazy yet but getting there. Good to know I'm not alone.

Oh my I can just cry while reading this post. I just had my surgery in Nov of 2014 and I am awful. My breathing is off, I'm very lethargic, my memory is off and my body aches. I to feel that my surgeon is just blowing me off. I wish I had never had this surgery.

A relief to see others describing my pain since receiving total thyroidectomy in August 2013. I am a 48year old male. I see the posts about accepting the 'new normal', but there must be some relief to this new breathing impairment since my thyroid surgery. Pre-surgery, I was actively playing soccer and rugby, hiking, and maintaining a high level of fitness. Now, I can barely make it up a flight of stairs without gasping for air. During sleep, I am sometimes awakened without being able to breathe. The thyroid surgeon paralyzed my vocal chord. Since then, a vocal chord implant was inserted. This helped with my voice. But, the breathing issue seems to be getting worse. Feels like there is a clump lodged in my wind pipe. But, ultra sounds reveal nothing. I visited the Pulmonary Specialists, and they performed a CPX test, which showed wind pipe contraction during exercise. This was NEVER a problem pre thyroid surgery. The result was prescribing asthma medication, still with no relief. Since the original post, wondering if anyone has found a medical solution to the breathing issue problem? Has anyone pursued malpractice?

I am experiencing identical problems, except that I can only speak very quietly and can not sing at all. Did you get the help you needed and has your problem been resolved?

It is very discouraging to read all these posts. I had surgery on 4/30/15 and am experiencing all the symptoms mentioned here about trouble breathing. I have shortness of breath, feel like I really can't get a deep breath, have trouble breathing when I'm laying down, feel like my throat is really small and have trouble swallowing some foods. I do have quite a bit of energy during the day until about 2 or 3 pm and then I am so exhausted, I just think I can't move. I saw my doctor today and he said the vocal chords are probably not back to normal and I probably still have some swelling and inflammation. Pretty much what all of you have said. He did a breathing test and will call me with the results. The only post that is helping feel a little hopeful is the doctor who posted that we should just keep with the exercise and push through it. He said he eventually got better. Please, has anyone else done this and actually seen improved results?

Your medication is based on your weight, and TSH blood tests should tell your Dr. what level is within the range.
