My husband is suffering from ulcerative colitis and he dealt with that condition for almost three years. I should probably mention the fact that he cannot take sulfasazaline based medications. Anyway, should he read leaflet carefully before he starts taking Dipentum, some drug his friend suggested. I am so worried that he might just worsen his condition. What do you say?

I think that he is already using some medication similar to Dipentum, with no sulfasazaline. This drug should help with ulcerative colitis symptoms without any fear of allergic reaction on sulfasalazine. Still, it has its own several side effects that should be watched for. Joint pain, nausea, headaches, these are all symptoms that should worry you.
