Hello, I hope that you can give me a positive answer to my question. Should a pregnant woman affected by HPV have a vaginal delivery? My wife has a benign type of HPV and she has been treated. Doctor said that she should have a normal delivery but we are still concerned about the baby’s health. Is it really safe?

Well, HPV could be a tough task to overcome, and it might cause some complications during pregnancy. But if the doctor said that it should be fine, you should listen to him. It means that the birth canal is freed of the warts and there is no obstruction when delivery begins. In some rare situations, virus could be transmitted during a delivery, but usually the baby’s immune system should be strong enough to overcome it.
