Hi. I just found out I was pregnant a couple days ago. I went for my first u/s yesterday. I was told the yolk sac was a bit to small and no heartbeat. All my levels were great though. Doc said she is going with her gut and thinking I will m/c. I have to go back next week to recheck. Anyone have this type of situation and the outcome was good? Scared as this was an unexpected pregnancy. I am scared and just hoping someone out there endured this same situation with a good outcome?

It seems that the doctor is probably correct, but another inspection will help to better determine this if there is still no growth.
It is disappointing, but this happens quite often. 20% of pregnancies end in miscarriages. This is usually because your body detected that there was something not right (probably genetically) and stopped the pregnancy.
If you are trying to get pregnant, don't be discouraged and keep trying. Good luck.

follow-up ultrasonography at 7-14 days to assess the pregnancy for viability is generally appropriate

According to some publications, a very small yolk sac may be a normal finding during early periods of normal embryologic development. However a distant study with certain limitations, suggests that a yolk sac diameter of 2 mm or less could be associated with failed early pregnancy when assessed at a gestational age of 8 to 12 weeks 1.
The yolk sac size begins to decrease during the late weeks of the first trimester.
This process is why gestational age should be taken into account when the size of the yolk sac is assessed. Some suggest that it may be prudent to perform serial sonographic examinations within a short period whenever a smaller-than-expected yolk sac is seen.

I just found out today that I am 5 weeks, small sac and no heartbeat. It is the beginning of a miscarriage... I was also losing a bit of blood and I'm with pelvic cramps for 3 days so that couldn't be good. How are you feeling now that one year has passed?
