My wife told me that she has is going to do a special kind of ultrasound test (sonohysterogram ). I am not sure what it means. Could this be dangerous for her? We are planning to have in vitro fertilization .Can anyone tell me something about sonohysterogram? Thank you

Yes, I had sonohysterogram done two years ago. They inject fluid into my uterus and fallopian tubes. Sonohysterogram provides them view of the uterine cavity. I know they did it to me when I was pregnant in order to avoid damaging or dislodging a released egg or embryo. But I also know that they practice this test instead of the HSG in patients who are planning to do in vitro fertilization. It is not painful and I am sure that her gynecologist knows what he’s doing.
