6 yrs on oxycodone ranging from 5 mg to 15 mg 3 to 5 times a day for chronic pain problem, depends on how active or how sick i am.  i went off once for a week but I couldnt stand the pain and was a real b***h so I went back on.  this time I am trying to use tramadol and ultram with ibuprofen and topomax to manage the pain and neuropathy, and exercise.  I am hoping that when I have pain if I wait a bit, I can see if it passes and just see if maybe I didnt wait long enough last time.  would love to see if anyone can tell me how long to see how long i need to wait to see if I am really cleared of this?  and does anyone know if once you have been dependent on pain killers, can you ever just take them as needed for pain?  my dr thinks I should be able to.  I dont think I can.  I think that once I take one, I will go right back to take them on a regular basis.  But I know that there were plenty of times that I really needed them a lot more than other times, at least it seemed like it, i always hurt more when we were on vacation and walked a lot or if it rained or if I was sick, etc.

anyone know?

Hi, I did wean down to 2 mg over  weeks time from 16 mg and then kicked. Now I know why they call it kickin it. It took me 9 days. It was horrible but suboxone was great for me. I used it for 2 yrs after an opiate addiction. it allowed me to plan and be ready to become drug free. I had alot of ducks to get in a row being a single mom and head of house. So while it is uncomfortable and gut wrenching It does pass and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I prayed alot and made sure to shower each day even though I could barley lift my arms. I forced myself and each time i was so glad i did because that shower makes a world of difference. I def dont recommend kicking from a higher dose than 2 mg. that was really tough.  I understand your wanting to just get it over with but really its just not gonna be doable at that high of a dose . Not only is the physical part almost unbearable but the mental and depression is really tuff. You really need to be a strong person , do alot of prayers and take that shower.  Good luck and God be with you.
