Hello- first post here.  I've searched the internet but can't find a post that relates to my specific question.   I regularly take Oxycodone 30 mg 3x a day, as it is prescribed to me.  However, I ran out of oxys yesterday and couldn't find any before my next doctor's appointment on Tuesday.  I experienced withdrawal symptoms and didn't want to spend the weekend withdrawing.

Anyway, a friend gave me 2  8 mg suboxone pills.  I took 1 last night at around 11 PM and 1 more today at around 1 PM.  I have never taken subs in the past.   I finally was able to get a couple of oxys for my pain but don't want to take them if the subs are only going to block them from working.  How long do I have to wait before I feel the effects of the Oxy?   I did some physical activity at around 4 o'clock and sweated A LOT, which I heard gets some of the suboxone out of your system faster.  I'm starting to feel withdrawal symptoms again now and was wondering if I could go ahead and take the oxy?  Anyone ever experience a similar situation?

I will also say that I'm a male 6'1" 180 lbs with a fast metabolism, if that makes any difference.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't think Subs actually block it. I'm talking about MY experience. I was withdrawing and I took subs, but then I realized I don't want to go through it anymore. I sniffed a 30 mlg Roxy, and my pain went away, and I closed my eyes, and finally went to sleep. Maybe it was just the MENTAL part telling me I'm okay, but Idon't think so. You don't get HIGH from it of course, but you DO feel better.

To SubOxyMistake: It's funny how you didn't even mention if (at all) the suboxone even helped you out? All you could focus on in your question was how long you had to wait in order to take the oxy that you had scored in order for them to work. In case you didn't know, suboxone has a half-life of up to 36 hours and with what you were given, you most definitely would have been taken out of withdrawal and should have felt fine, actually perfectly great! Wanting to know when you could take those oxy's should not of even been an issue. It's so interesting when people that want to stay out of withdrawal because of taking opiates and then getting their hands on suboxone never mention how or what happened when they took the subs they got a hold of. Taken correctly, those two suboxone's may have surely held you over to that "next" dr's appointment you had in which you would be getting more oxy - almost 4 days of not having to worry about withdrawals. Instead, you were so concerned with "when" you could take the oxy's you had and didn't want to "waste" them because of them not working having the sub in your system. You should have been grateful for the subs and knowing myself what subs do, you should have been singing their praises about how "normal" once again that you felt and moreover it taking away the withdrawls, how about how the suboxone took away your cravings for wanting/having to have those oxy's?
