I'm 18 and have had my period for about 9 years already. It has never been regular from the start. When I first got it, it was kind of heavy and I would get very painful cramps. I dealt with it since my doctor said that irregularity like that was normal for the first 3-4 years. But even after that it would still be irregular. It would range from 2-6 months until my next period came and it once came and lasted for over 5 weeks. So when I turned 14 I went on birth control to try and regulate it and it worked....that is until I stopped using it, then it went right back to irregular along with the heaviness but thankfully the cramps were gone. About a year after that my periods became less heavy/more manageable. that lasted for a few years up until about 2 months ago. All of a sudden my period came and it was EXTREMELY heavy, like worse than ever before in the past. Blood clots left and right all the time, cramps, aching body, the whole 9 yards non-stop for a good 2 and a half weeks. I could hardly do any activities because of how heavy it was and I never thought it would end. I hoped that my next period (whenever it would decide to come) wouldn't be like that again but it just came back yesterday and it is :(. Im so desperate for help and quite frankly don't want to take birth control because that's just a temporary solution to my almost decade long problem. I don't know if it could be something more serious and im really scared.
