Hello! For the last 2 months, I noticed that my husband has been drinking too much fluid, much more than usually. The thing is that he eats salty food and I know this could be one of the reasons but he has been eating salty foods since forever, and this is something new he’s experiencing. He says he feels thirsty. I tried into persuading him into going to the doc but he doesn’t want to, Can you help? Thanks

Hi! Yes, you are right about excessive salt intake but excessive thirst could indicate other underlying problems as well. Excessive thirst can indicate that a person has high blood pressure and is also very important in suspecting diabetes. Is he having too much spicy food? Is he taking any meds? Drugs like anticholinergics, demeclocycline, diuretics, phenothiazines could make him drink a lot of water. However, more serious problems may be involved like heart, liver, or kidney failure and I think he beter has it checked.
