hi I had the same experience this morning and the exact thing happend.I had a large discharge of white tissue and woke up with a painful feeling under and cramps.I never had this before.I was taking diane 35 for 21 days because I had this terrible acne vulgaris and my friends told me that the pill could really help thats why I took it.But then for one month I have been taking it I didn't had my period just this month when I stopped taking it.And just this morning I had the same thing.I am a little worried because I haven't had any sexual activities for almost 6 months and it was just the pill I was taking.Im really scared about it. :(

I'm glad to see this -- I found the thread looking for answers on a similar issue, except this is my third period with the Mirena IUD, which I've had for just over six months. It is not possible that I'm pregnant, otherwise I may have thought it was a miscarriage since the cramps felt like early labor (I've had three babies, no issues) and my cervix is partially dilated. The chunks were definitely NOT blood clots, but chunks of tissue many times larger than has ever passed before -- the largest was about 1/4" thick and almost as big as my palm. After that one passed two days ago (day 7) the bleeding and cramps have eased a lot, but still day 9 of what usually lasts four days for me. Glad to hear there are similar accounts and no real issue...if this doesn't stop soon then I'll still have to call the gynecologist, but at least by then I can cite iron concerns instead of just this.

During a menstrual cycle, the endometrius is broked down and shed. The hormones affected are targeted by birth control. The endometrius doesn't fully degrade and a chunk is discharged instead of blood.
