When I am on my period there is usually a couple of days where I have alot of clear fluid instead of red blood. For example: I will feel that I have bleed through my tampon then go to the bathroom and find my pants are soaked in a clear liquid not blood like it should have been. This usually happens after I have bleed really heavy the first two days. The clear fluid usually has some blood but my tampon would be soaked with mostly clear fluid. The end of my period is back to a light flow of blood.
I am married and on the pill. I do have intercourse very often but its not from intercourse. Even if I have not had intercourse for a 5 days this happens, I know its not left from my husband and its definately not urine or just a discharge it is alot more than that and it only happens when Im on my period.
Any idea what this could be? Does anyone else experience this?

Oh my gosh, I've been having the same thing for my past four periods and I am not on the pill. I haven't quite figured out what this is. I asked my doctor and he seemed puzzled (always a great sign, right?). He said he had never heard of it before and suggested an ultrasound...I have yet to get one...I can't help you other than provide moral support in knowing that another woman experiences the same thing!

I have experienced during my past four periods. I have no idea what it is and one night I was so concerned I called a doctor on call. He was puzzled and said he had never heard of this before (always a great sign, right?). He suggested I get an ultrasound just to make sure everything was okay, but that he didn't think it was anything serious. I have yet to get it checked out...I know my response wasn't of much help, but take comfort in knowing someone else experiences the same thing. I know I do!

Hi both, did you find out what this was, as the same thing has been happening to me for the past few periods. I thought initially that the brand of tampon I was using was no longer suitable but it's happening regardless.

Well, I have never been on the birth control pill myself but I have friends who are on it. I would guess that your watery vagina discharge has something to do with the fact that the period you get when you are on the pill isn't a real period. It's actually withdrawal bleeding, something the manufacturers of the pill initially featured in to mimic the normal menstrual cycle. When you are on the pill, you do not shed uterine lining as you would naturally, because that uterine lining does not build up the way it would if you were not taking the pill. I wouldn't worry, but if you are worried anyway, why not have a chat with your gyno?

I too am having this same issue. It began about three months ago and when I tried to explain it to my gyno, she seemed puzzled and told me that I should come back while it is happening (I haven't yet). I was hoping that it would go away on it's own (it hasn't). It's embarrasing to be at work and constantly running off to the bathroom in a panic, certain that I've soaked through to my pants. I've found plenty of postings online about this issue, but not yet found any possible causes.

This just happened to me too this morning on the bus. I thought I must have forgotten to put a tampon in but when I got to work there was just a big wet patch in my pants. What is it???! I immediately got on the internet to find out and it seems lots of people are experiencing it but no one knows what it is....

This has been happening to me too! I started HRT for premature ovarian insufficiency in Jan and ever since I have had regular periods again, but the last few days I thought I had been having urinary incontinence and was very concerned the first time it happened, but realized it only happened during my period. It is annoying since it fills my organic tampons so fast ( otherwise they hold the normal amount of blood). I can't believe how many women have this issue and no doctor can tell us what it is!!!

me too experienecd this thing in this month.I was passing transparent fluid for around 4 days just like i get my normal periods.I could not make out what exactly it is.n i still haven't got my periods with bleeding.so was that a period phase only or something to be concerned of??am confused.can anyone help?

I am 50 years old and I too have been experiencing a clear water like discharge during the end of my periods for the past year. Sometimes this is mixed with blood and sometimes not. It can last anywhere from one to three days. Tampons cannot hold this type of liquid for long and therefore I end up having to wear pads too. I am stunned that the doctors don't know what this is and that they seem surprised, like they have never heard of it before when evidently it does happen since we have all experienced this. I had a vaginal ultrasound done about a year and a half ago because of heavy bleeding and was diagnosed at that time with uterine fibroids that did not require treatment. I wonder sometimes if perhaps this could be coming from one or more of those fibroid tumors. If I find out anything, I will post it here and hope you all will do the same.

I am also having this problem. The first time this happened it was frequent with an odor, I was so conscience of it I had to clean often. My tampon would be full and my panty liner would be wet. When I changed it, there was zero to little blood on it. I dont understand where this clear liquid is coming from, my doctor has no clue either. This has been happening for my last 4 cycles.

Wow..So ive been on here searching since i dont have a doctor at the moment and couldnt ask what this was about...Ive been having the same thing for the last 5-6 months during my period i have a lot of clear fluid fill up my tampon.I get confused when i need to change my tampon and then theres hardly any blood but yet its full...I wish a doctor new what was going on...I did get diagnosed with PCOS last year and so i was wondering if it could be related to that, but as seeing on here it doesnt seem like theres any others with PCOS so maybe its soemthing else.If any one has learned anything please help?? I'm in my late twenties and just had this happen for the first time. I don't normally run to the computer to look up medical things but it had me so puzzled as to why it was happening I did. Obviously not thrilled no doctors have any clue what it is, but glad I'm not the only one. I'm on a Ortho-tri low and I just figured my period came early. I had little blood this morning which I wasn't happy it was a little early. Then clear fluid all day with very little blood, very little. Never had this before. Has anyone had it go away after having it for a few months?

nobody else has mentioned an odour so i'm nervous, but its like, it feels as long i'm leading a strong acid or something.

This has been happening to me for the last 2 days. At first I thought it was regular discharge and then I thought it was urine. I discovered that it's a clear odorless fluid and now I have to constantly change tampons in order to prevent my clothes from getting wet. My period was actually two weeks ago and I'm not on any birth control. I wonder if this is a possible sign of pregnacy. I'm just hoping it goes away on its own or I'll just have to visit my physician.
