I had the pedicle tram flap reconstruction in 2005 and have always experienced abdominal pain. In the past year it has gotten worse, I now have a bulge and the only relief is to lay day. I've had an ultra sound, MRI and upper/lower bowel study and was told everything is fine, I need to lose weight. I've gained about 10-lbs since the surgery and know that is not my issue. What type of test needs to be done to find out if it is a stomach wall issue or hernia. Thanks, tired of constantly being in pain with no answer.

I had my tram flap 2 years ago, ended up having a flesh eating staph infection with 7 more surgeries to clean/gut it out, almost died. Dr has done another surgery to remove mesh coming out on its own, been to the wound clinic since then, just released last month with fingers crossed, but that dr said I needed to replace the mesh because of the hearnia that developed over those 2 years,,,I look pregnant....painfull...who do I contact about this! Thanks, Tina

I had the tram flap surgery in April of 2010 and thought it was great. Two new breasts size C and a tummy tuck. Well right after I started to hear I noticed my stomach felt tight and swelled like a bowling ball and sometimes a basket ball . I feel like I'm 3-4 months pregnant. I wear spanks all day long otherwise I am very uncomfortable. I can't over eat or walk a lot with out feeling sever pressure in my abdomen. I don't know what to do about it or if there is anything I can do. It just sucks and I would not recommend this surgery to anyone.

Please look for my FB group for help with abdominal complications such as bulging and possible hernias. The name of my group on FB is called TRAM/DIEP- Complications And Hope. If you do not have FB- the surgeons work together to repair abdominal issues. They are located on LI, NY. Their names are Dr. Ron Israeli and Dr. George Denoto III. You can google them. I would suggest contacting Dr. Israeli first to get the ball rolling. I DO NOT know of any other surgeons with a reliable and proven repair for Abdominal bulging or possible hernias due to the Tram Flap. Hope this helps.

See my posts on this thread about my FB group. Their is HOPE. Your not alone. Hernias are most often diagnosed via exam as CT scans often fail to detect them. My group contains all this information.

Feeling the same as everyone else - I had the tram flap surgery in 2013 as well and get the bloating and can’t loose weight and always feel so fat -I am having issues now with the upper part of my torso under my breast so much discomfort- can’t stand it anymore/ tried PT this year but didn’t really help - I feel my breast are becoming nothing but scar tissue and hard - nothing like the natural look and feel I was told I would have - very discouraging- would not recommend this procedure at all
