i am on orthro tricyclin lo, and i have been on it for a few weeks. about a week ago i had unprotected sex, and im scared im pregnant. i heard the pill is only effective after a month. i also have break through bleeding, and i was wondering if i would still get break through bleeding if i was pregnant?

I'm also on Ortho TriCyclen Lo and this is my 2nd month.
Breakthrough bleeding is just a side effect of the pill and it's normal. The pill is effective immediately IF YOU STARTED IT on DAY 1 f your cycle (the first day you have your period). If you used a sunday start, it takes ONE WEEK to become effective.
It's safe to have unprotected sex on the pill AS LONG as you take your pill everyday at the same time, AND DON'T MISS ANY! Remember also, taking antibiotics or throwing up CAN REDUCE the effectiveness of your pill.
Other than that, you should be fine!
