This was very helpful as I too could not find any information online and I had the same experience. I would like to know what came of further investigation of your symptoms. I had very jaundice eyes several weeks ago and told my doctor about it and he ignored it because I tan in a tanning salon and he figured it was due to my inability to protect my eyes correctly. I also have constant internal bleeding issues which he never looked into and I am anemic and hospitalized often and I have MTHFR which can cause bleeding problems. So I do feel that I had an early warning system that was ignored and now I must go and find out what is really going on. Did you have a liver issue? or Were you anemic? Were you treated? You have no idea how grateful I was to read your post and to know I was not crazy, I knew I could not have been the only one that had fluorescent orange drink mix instead of blood coursing through my veins. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

Yes My husband put in a new coily light bulb last week. I went to a different bathroom with older light bulbs and the color was normal. Thank you for figuring this out. I was really freaking out.

It's easy to check the fluorescent bulb theory, though: take a sample to a window where you can see it in natural light. (Just use a bit of toilet paper or something if you don't have any window you feel comfortable looking at the normal supplies.through) However, I'd be seriously concerned about switching over to fluorescent bulbs if they cause that much of a difference in color perception...

Im 23 and have 1 child. I get uti's regularly and im borderline anemic. After I had my child, I got the implanon in my arm. I have periods 2-3 weeks out of the month for the past 10 months. Last month I had a highlighter orange period and now my urine is also tinted and sometimes bowel movements. I have no idea if its because of my birth control or what. Im bruising after any bump but I dont know if its because of the borderline anemia or anything. If anyone has a clue as to what that could mean... I dont have insurance so a doctors appointment is kind of last resort right now being a single mother.

First, the urine BC it could be a big part of everything else. UTI medicine can cause orange urine. Possibly bowels depending on the doses. If you are not treating UTI at the time then orange urine could indicate a little fresh blood if continues needs medical attention. If orange urine occurred at the time of menses then it could be explained by a mixture of the two. Next, the orange menses is simple. When menstrual blood mixes with cervical mucus (discharge) it dilutes the red appearance of the blood making orange. Yes it is common for for discharge during menses. Especially if a UTI is present. The good news is even anemic blood turns bright red when exposed to oxygen so it should not be a concern in this situation. However, I would suggest a daily vitamin high in iron if it is a concern. If you are fatigued, dizzy, or nauseous BC of anemia a iron supplement is needed and can be found over the counter and taken only as directed.

Hey ladies, I actually found an article online that listed both color and consistency of your flow and what it can mean. Here is what was listed for orange: Orange: Sometimes when bright, red blood mixes with cervical fluid it can appear an almost orange color with red flecks. Bright orange period blood can also be a sign of infection, however, so if you see it frequently, or it doesn't also have a slippery consistency, see your doctor. hope this helps.

There are a few possibilities here. One of these is simply that your period is lighter than usual. When this occurs, it can sometimes make the color appear different. In particular, if there is less bleeding then you are used to, the proportion of the menstrual flow that is from shed uterine lining (rather than blood), is higher, changing the color a bit. Another possibility is that you have some vaginal mucus or other vaginal discharge, which would be unrelated to your period, but which may be causing the change in the color. Regardless, the best way to figure out exactly what might be going on would be to see a doctor. You can make an appointment with either yourprimary care doctor or your OB GYN doctor. They can perform a physical examination and determine whether there is anything going on that might require further testing or investigation. Make sure to mention to them if you have any other symptoms, such as abdominal pain or cramping, vaginal itching or redness, burning or pain with urination, and so on. These symptoms will help your doctor narrow down the potential causes of your symptoms. Please make an appointment at your convenience.
