Hello everybody. I have a huge problem and really don’t know what to do next. You see, my crazy doctor performed a vaginal hysterectomy rectocele and then decided to play god - he removed part of my labia and sewed me up so tight that I couldn’t have sex!!! Later, when I went to hem and complained about it, he had to perform another surgery to open the vaginal opening. ever since, I’ve been experiencing severe pain. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else here had similar experience. I would like to hear from you...

Oh dear... I really feel for you... Really... I haven’t had anything similar and even can’t imagine how you feel... Really... What is your docs’ story?? Did he really have to do it?? Because, if he hadn’t, I would definitely press charges and see that he never gets into the operating room again... Anyway, I hope it all works out for you and that you will get better... I'm not a doctor, but that does NOT sound good. I'd suggest going to another doctor in the field and telling him or her what happened. They will be able to tell you whether that procedure is normal, or whether you have cause for concern. If you're alarmed by it, listen to your gut.

i) did he/she warn of the potential complications ?(informed consent-different criteria in each state & country).
ii) was there damage done..physical. . emotional ..psychological..other ?
iii) would I have agreed knowing this?
iv) Is there time for redress (legal)?
v) what are the health bodies to whom I may report the issue?
vi) Am I able to request copies of my medical records (eg: freedom of information policy of the state/ country?).
vii) What further sequelae may develop? (implications into the future-
complications based on the post operative concern/ issue)
viii) Keep a diary of your issues & ways in which this affects your life:
(quality of life issues..this is personal, but it may help to quantify
life changes..it will not chage events past, unfortunately).
ix) What is the time for litigation & is this for me? Keep all needed
forms, it does not mean you have to act.
v) Do you consider this a moral issue? Is there a way you wish & are
able to prevent others from going through your experience?
I hope you are able to find some resolution & sometimes talking to a
lawyer or health professional body- reseach these & other instances
of your concern ocurring, may be very helpful in making future
decisions.
Never be afraid to get a second or third opinion.

If I were you I would get a referral to a gyno, if your doctor won't give you one, go to a walk-in clinic and explain your story and find a way to get in to a specialist! There may be a way that you can have this fixed without cost... or the cost being given back to the dr. that did it. But your best chance is to talk to someone else, preferrably a specialist in the field. Get more than one opinion if you have to!
