I tend to agree. However, some vitamins including a couple of B vitamins act as stimulants and worsen my existing anxiety despite claims they help with stress.

I agree with you on the taking vitamins and depression. I have been taking 500 mg of C plus half a multi vitamin and I haven't felt like myself. I feel depressed. This has happened before. I normally don't take vitamins unless someone around me is sick and at work everyone is sick. So I started doing this every day and I feel like I am on something. I feel depressed. I am not a depressed person, just the opposiite so when I start crying for little reason, or feel blue...I know now it's linked to taking these things every day. When I stop taking them, the symptoms of depression stop and I feel so much better. Thank you for discussing this.

Doctors just tell u that so u keep buying the pills. Doctors don’t truly care about your health, they just care about money and they will say whatever they have to say for u to keep buying pills from them.

Hi all,
I’ve been taking b complex for a while now, probably a good 4 years, as I was a former vegetarian when I started and then just kept taking them. I feel into a very deep depression, but I did have circumstances that would attribute to it, so I could never link the two. I also have anxiety and ptsd. During this time I had received significant suppprt from a mixture of professionals; counselors, medical doctors, naturopathic doctors, homeopathic doctors and traditional healers. I worked on those emotional wounds, even tried antidepressants ( which I ended 6 months after cause I felt even more numb and depressed). But for some reason after everything, I still felt this looming dread and sadness that I could not get out of no matter what. Working with my naturopath, she had recommended adding in vitamin d and iron and omega 3. As I was a former vegetarian (no longer) and I was lacking in some of these vitamins.
So I’ve been taking b complex, vitamin d, iron and omega 3 so a good couple of years. I ended up getting a BOGO sale for b complex and then my partner started to try them. She said within days she felt extremely aggressive and irritated and angry. I was shocked but obviously curious. So I too stopped taking them and I’m two days without and I already feel like the old me is coming back. My anger is subsiding, the darkness is slowly lifting, AND BONUS... the anxiety symptoms are lessening and my sleep is starting to naturally balance. For years I’ve struggles with sleep and now not a single pill or tea is needed when I’ve needed these sleep aids for years! I have less anxiety, less palpitations, less gastrointestinal stress and overall my head feels a little clearer. Also feel like ever since I stopped them I CRAVE healthy foods from their natural source! I feel a lightness and happiness within that I haven’t had for years. I’m going to continue to get my vitamins from food and continue taking care of this body and being mindful of what I put into it and how I treat it.
So tomorrow I’m stopping all vitamins! I’ll keep you posted! Good luck everybody! Trust in your self and what your body is telling you!

Absolutely there is a connection between taking vitamin pills and depression. I have known this for many years. However, I find that it isn't just the pills, I have the same reaction when I take those yogurt drinks that contain shed loads of 'friendly bacteria'. Years ago I tried to research the subject, but couldn't find anything. I now feel vindicated. It's been difficult over the years to convince people that there is a connection. Unfortunately, people can be very short sighted at times. Unless, they hear something from the medical profession, they simply don't give claims such as this much credence.

The best way to find out what’s right or wrong is to take the vitamins and see how you feel it’s different for everyone some people are very sensitive to these supplements and some people are not

So glad to see someone else is dealing with this. I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about this.
