It's not so much a case of brands as who is taking them and why, and what their individual needs are.

When buying a multi-vit/mineral, one good tip is to look to see whether it has `time released` on the label, which will mean that the tablets are coated to be more steadily released throughout the day, rather than the water soluble vitamins being flushed through your system quite quickly.

The most important thing to do is read the levels and look at the RDAs (recommended daily allowance) to see how much of each you will be getting.

Again, what you need depends on a lot of factors such as age, health, other medications, etc. Women over 50, for example, should make sure they have good levels of calcium to help prevent osteoporosis, on the approach to the menopause. Whereas, the needs of an 18 year old woman might be very different.

In terms of brands, I like Holland and Barrett's Super One or Quest. There's also a website called Healthspan which is generally of good quality and competitively priced.

Centrum ultra womens is the best multi vitamins for women as it contains 100% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for folic acid and iron, and has comparable levels of calcium and magnesium to One-A-Day. Centrum has slightly lower levels of vitamin D than One-A-Day, but still provides twice the RDA.
