Metformin is a antidiabetic drug which is part of the biguanide class. Metformin is the generic name but there are a lot of different brand names such as glucophage, riomet, fortamet, glumetza, obimet, dianben, diabex and diaformin for example. Metformin is available in different forms of preparation such as tablet, powder and liquid.
metformin is available in standard - immediate release and extended release also known as slow release.
there are different strengths available; 500mg, 750mg, 850mg and 1000mg.
There are also medications where metfrmin is combined with another medication such as metformin and rosiglazone marketed as Avandamet and metformin and pioglitazone marketed as Actoplus met.
As far as I know Riomet is the only liquid preparation.
