My sister is n hospital where she is waiting to deliver a baby. She had a hard pregnancy, followed by constant infections, but the important thing is that they are both ok. There is a possibility that they will have to get the baby out through the stomach, which is not such a big deal. But I over heard a word laparotomy when the doctors were talking. Laparotomy simply stands for cutting open patient’s abdomen. It is not important what type of operation it is, if it is done in abdominal area, it starts with laparotomy. The most common incision in this procedure is midline incision. It follows linea alba, the line that goes straight in the middle of the abdomen, from up to down.
