My mother has osteoarthritis. She handles this condition with many difficulties because she was very active and energetic before. She was always in the motion and dynamic. Strong pain brought by her illness disable her from being as before. She tried several drugs and now is taking Naproxen. What is that drug exactly? Will it help her?

Naproxen is a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug. I do not know if she had experience with this drug before, but it proved to be very efficient in dealing with symptoms of osteoarthritis and other forms of osteoarthritis. Basic mechanism is inhibition of mediators of inflammation, prostaglandins. Problem occurs because prostaglandins protect intestinal tract, so ulcers might occur.
