They are the same as stated above. They both are beta agonist. An antagonist would cause a asthma attack (ie beta blockers). Please be careful of what you read on sites like this. A litlle knowledge is a dangerous thing. By the way I am a pharmacist and if you need medication advise, talk to your Dr or pharmacist.

dude salbutamol an albuterol are diferent medicatonswho belong at the same group short acting b2 receptor agonist so they have same mechanism they are not different names for the same medication, is like ibuprofen and aspirin both are non steroid antinflamatory drugs but are different.

after stopping albuterol and switching to salbutamol my severe asthma improved dramaticly.....everybody is different of corse but this stuff has improved my quality of life big time.I did this change on my own because my so called doctor would not listen to me about increasing problems with breathing and insisted on "her" continued albuterol treatment.FYI,i took albuterol for 3 years.Asthma really sucks......i hope this helps others

The misinformation here is unbelievable, but what is worse are the doctors on Health Tap that think Albuterol and Salbutamol are different. The fact is that Albuterol and Salbutamol are the same thing. If you buy Ventolin in the US you get Albuterol; however, if you buy Ventolin in Vietnam then you get Salbutamol.
