Hello. I am in my late sixties and I have some troubles with my heart. Don’t get me wrong because I have never had any heart attack or some heart operation. Never.
But I suffer from strong pains coming out of my heart and, in the beginning I was very frightened because I also suspected on heart attack and I contacted my cardiologist. After ultrasound examhe determined that I suffer from some disease called angina.
So, he prescribed me some drug called Isosorbide mononitrate.
My pains are gone but I got this strong headaches and I was wondering what kind of drug this is? Thank you

Well, I know a bit about this drug because I'm using it for over than five years and it helped me as lot.
This medication is a nitrate drug.
It is used to prevent chest pain (angina) and reduce strain on the heart in patients with heart disease (coronary artery disease). Isosorbide mononitrate relaxes, widens and dilatate blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.
You said that you have some headaches caused by this drug. Well, this is known side effect of this drug.
Headache is often a sign that this medication is working; treat it with an aspirin or non-aspirin pain reliever as recommended by your doctor.
But, maybe you are taking it wrongly!?
Swallow this medication whole. Do not crush or chew the tablets, which can destroy the long action of this drug and may increase side effects.
