My mother is 71 and in the hospital withdrawing from alcohol. The first couple of nights she seemed ok, not too confused. Now, after 4 or 5 days she looks terrible and her words are slurred and she is completely out of it, like she's had a stroke, but the doctor said she has not had a stroke.
Are these symptoms typical of withdrawal from alcohol? They did say she showed signs of atrophy on her brain CAT scan.
