I was told that the zinc tablet is meant to be dissolved in water, but can it be taken by chewing or sucking? It is for my kid, she has terrible diarrhea. And also should a child be given another course of zinc treatment if she experiences a second episode of diarrhea? Thanks!

Chewing or sucking is not the recommended; preferably it should be dissolved in water and then administered it to the child as syrup. This will better ensure that your child takes the full dose. I think that all episodes of diarrhea should be treated with zinc. Even if she has recently completed a full course of zinc treatment it is still safe to give a second dose.
