Hi, everyone! I'm a 15 year old high school girl who is going to have her whole thyroid taken out in two days due to Papillary Carcinoma (thyroid cancer). Truth to be told, I wasn't all that shock when the doctor told me that I have cancer. I'm not the healthiest 15 year old girl out there considering I have scoliosis, suspected Glaucoma, and various skin problems so I knew one of these days, something big will hit me; lo and be hold, cancer! I thought I'll go into that hospital, get the surgery over with, and my life will be back to normal (well, as normal as can be for me atleast). However, after doing some research myself, I am about thissssss close to breaking down. I would really appreciate it if some of you guys who has went through the same thing can answer some of my questions. 1. How does it feel like when they're giving you anesthesia? 2. How will you feel like the moment you wake up? 3. How bad is the pain on a scale of 1-10, 10 being, "Oh my god. Someone shoot me now." 4. How do I deal with weight gain due to hypothyroidism after the surgery? I'm currently 108lbs, 5ft 2.5 inches. I admit that I'm a very vain person and that I care a lot on how others view me. School is starting in about 1 and a half weeks so I don't really want to start the new school year with crazy weight gain. 5.How will life be like after the thyroidectomy? Thank you to everyone who took their time to read and answer my question (I know this was a preeetttty long post; but I'm just feeling really down right now).

Hi sweetheart i know this is a rough time for you!!! My grandmother has thyroid problems too but in my personal opinion i dont think you should get the surgery because there are lots of other options out here. I know cancer is serious and there isnt alot of time but just look up dr sebi and dhealthstore on youtube. I wish the best for you in whatever decision you make!

First of all, I hope that your surgery has gone well. By now you have discovered that anesthesia is not so bad, usually just a feeling of fatigue, sometimes nausea, and dizziness. All in all not so bad. I am not sure of your pain. I think that varies from person to person. I hope it is minimal for you. As far as hypothyroidism goes I'm sure they will have you on a synthroid. I personally take Levothyroxine. It has worked wonderfully so far. There are special diets you can look up that are rich in iodine. they will help tremendously. Just be sure to always take you medicine and eat right and you should have a fairly mormal life. good luck! I sincerely hope that you are cancer free now!
